Growing up she wanted to change her name to Zoe just so it was…easier. Her mother explained to her that if they can say Tchaikovsky they can say Uzoamaka, her Nigerian name which means 'the road is good' in the Igbo language.

From an athletic family she was awarded a track scholarship in her hometown at Boston University. A multitalented artist she studied opera as well as acting.
On the very day she was cast in OITNB was the day she was going to retire and most likely go into law. Hours after her fateful decision she got a call from her manager and the rest is history.
For her sensitive and stunning portrayal as Suzanne 'Crazy Eyes' Warren she won 3 Emmy awards. She went from playing a woman with mental health issues to a woman who assists in mental health. In the much anticipated reboot of In Treatment, it gives us our fix of seeing her on the small screen once again.
