Angel’s Mission was honored to share our mission and community work with students from the Public Health Evaluation class, thanks to the kind invitation of Dr. Maria Fuentes.

It was a wonderful opportunity to talk about the importance of community engagement, inclusion, advocacy, and connecting families with meaningful resources and support.

We truly value spaces where education and community experience come together. Today’s students are tomorrow’s professionals, advocates, and leaders, and conversations like these help build stronger and more inclusive communities.

Thank you, Dr. Fuentes, for opening the classroom to Angel’s Mission and for giving us the opportunity to share what we do and, most importantly, why we do it. 💙

Para Angel’s Mission fue un honor compartir nuestra misión y el trabajo que realizamos en la comunidad con los estudiantes de la clase de Public Health Evaluation, gracias a la amable invitación de la Dra. Maria Fuentes.

Fue una excelente oportunidad para conversar sobre la importancia de la participación comunitaria, la inclusión, la abogacía y la conexión de las familias con recursos y apoyos significativos.

Autism Hope El Paso and Angel’s Mission invite you to our Su***de Prevention Conference, a space created to learn, connect, and strengthen our community’s ability to recognize and respond to a mental health crisis.

Throughout the conference, we will address su***de myths and realities, risk factors, su***de prevention in autistic individuals, how to recognize a mental health crisis and respond with confidence, and the importance of building a community of hope through collaboration.

💙 Building a More Inclusive El Paso Through Education & Understanding 💙

Angel’s Mission was honored to provide a training on “Autism and Neurodisabilities in Adults: How to Best Serve Them” for the Environmental Services Outreach Team of the City of El Paso.

We discussed how autism and other neurodisabilities may present in adulthood, the importance of recognizing individual communication and sensory needs, and practical strategies City employees can use to create more respectful, accessible, and supportive interactions with the people they serve.

At Angel’s Mission, we believe that inclusion begins with understanding, education, empathy, and respect. Trainings like this help bridge gaps, challenge misconceptions, and give professionals practical tools to better serve neurodivergent individuals throughout our community.

We are incredibly grateful to the Environmental Services Outreach Team for welcoming us, asking thoughtful questions, and taking an important step toward making our city more inclusive, informed, and neurodiversity-friendly.

Angie’s Mission tuvo el honor de ofrecer la capacitación “Autismo y neurodiscapacidades en adultos: como brindarles un mejor servicio y apoyo” al Equipo de Alcance Comunitario de Servicios Ambientales de la Ciudad de El Paso.

Hablamos sobre cómo el autismo y otras neurodiscapacidades pueden manifestarse en la edad adulta, la importancia de reconocer las necesidades individuales de comunicación y procesamiento sensorial, y estrategias prácticas que los empleados de la Ciudad pueden utilizar para crear interacciones más respetuosas, accesibles y comprensivas con las personas a quienes sirven.

Estamos profundamente agradecidos con el Equipo Comunitario de Servicio por recibirnos, participar activamente, hacer preguntas importantes y dar un paso más hacia una ciudad más inclusiva, informada y amigable con la neurodiversidad.

Cuando educamos a nuestra comunidad, construimos una comunidad donde todas las personas tienen la oportunidad de ser comprendidas, respetadas y apoyadas.

There are days a community never forgets.

For many of us at Angel’s Mission, August 3 is more than a date.

It is the memory of someone we knew.
A friend.
A neighbor.
A coworker.
A family member.
Or someone whose life became forever connected to ours on that day.

Although the years have passed, the memories remain, and so does our commitment to one another.

Today we honor the 23 lives that were taken, embrace those who survived, and stand beside every family whose story was forever changed.

As a border community, we learned that even in unimaginable pain, compassion is stronger than hate. We continue choosing kindness, inclusion, and hope because that is how we honor those we lost.

Hay días que una comunidad nunca olvida.

Para muchos de quienes formamos parte de Angel’s Mission, el 3 de agosto es mucho más que una fecha.

Es el recuerdo de alguien que conocimos.
De un amigo.
De un vecino.
De un compañero de trabajo.
De un familiar.
O de alguien cuya historia quedó unida para siempre a la nuestra.

Aunque los años han pasado, los recuerdos permanecen, y también nuestro compromiso de seguir cuidándonos unos a otros.

Hoy honramos la memoria de las 23 personas que perdieron la vida, abrazamos a quienes sobrevivieron y acompañamos a todas las familias cuya vida cambió para siempre.

Como comunidad fronteriza aprendimos que, incluso en medio del dolor más profundo, la compasión puede ser más fuerte que el odio. Por eso seguimos eligiendo la empatía, la inclusión y la esperanza. Esa es la mejor manera de honrar a quienes ya no están.

Tantrum or Sensory Meltdown? Knowing the difference can change everything. 💚

Not every intense behavior is a tantrum.

Sometimes, what looks like “misbehavior” is actually a nervous system overwhelmed by sensory or emotional stress.

When we understand the difference, we stop asking,
“How do I make this behavior stop?”
and begin asking,
“What is this child trying to tell me?”

Connection creates safety.
Safety allows regulation.
And regulation opens the door to learning.

Let’s replace judgment with curiosity, punishment with support, and correction with connection.

Every child deserves to be understood. 💚



¿Berrinche o crisis sensorial? Comprender la diferencia puede cambiarlo todo. 💚

No toda conducta intensa es un berrinche.

En ocasiones, aquello que parece un “mal comportamiento” es un sistema nervioso sobrecargado por estímulos sensoriales o emocionales.

Cuando entendemos la diferencia, dejamos de preguntarnos:
”¿Cómo hago para que deje de hacerlo?”
y comenzamos a preguntarnos:
”¿Qué me está tratando de comunicar esta persona?”

La conexión genera seguridad.
La seguridad favorece la regulación.
Y la regulación abre la puerta al aprendizaje.

Cambiemos el juicio por curiosidad, el castigo por acompañamiento y la corrección por conexión.

Porque detrás de cada conducta hay una historia, y detrás de cada persona hay un enorme valor. 💚

Today, we receive this resolution with hearts full of gratitude and commitment.

On behalf of Angel’s Mission, we would like to sincerely thank the County of El Paso for this meaningful recognition, declaring April as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. This is more than a symbolic gesture; it is a powerful statement that our community is moving toward greater empathy, inclusion, and respect for neurodiversity.

Autism is not something to be “fixed,” but something to be understood, supported, and embraced. Every individual on the spectrum experiences the world in a unique way, and it is our responsibility as a community to create spaces where they can thrive without barriers or judgment.

This recognition also honors every family that walks this journey with love, resilience, and courage. To the parents who navigate uncertainty with strength, and to the children, youth, and adults with autism who teach us new ways to connect, communicate, and see the world.

I would also like to extend a special thank you to our partners in this mission. To PdN Children’s Development Center and Autism Hope, thank you for your dedication, your collaboration, and for walking alongside us in building a more informed, compassionate, and inclusive community.

This recognition is an honor, but it is also a reminder that there is still work to be done. Awareness is just the beginning. True change happens when we move from awareness to acceptance, and from acceptance to action.

Let us continue working together to ensure that every person with autism is seen, heard, and valued. Because when a community chooses inclusion, everyone grows.
