After 98 hours of laboring at home, this strong mama and I made the decision that a transfer to the hospital was the safest path forward to help her reach the finish line — a beautiful vaginal delivery of the sweetest little girl 💖

From the very beginning, our goal was always the same: a safe and healthy birth at home for both mother and baby. While we prepare and hope for a homebirth, part of safe midwifery care is recognizing when a higher level of support is needed and listening to what labor is telling us.

A transfer is not a failure.
It does not make a mother weak.
It does not erase the strength, endurance, trust, and surrender she carried through every contraction over those long hours.

In fact, choosing a safe transfer when it is needed is strength.

Homebirth is never about “proving” anything. It’s about making informed decisions, honoring physiology, and keeping safety at the center every step of the way. Most times that journey ends at home, and sometimes it ends in the hospital — both can still be empowering, beautiful, and deeply successful births.

As your midwife, I not only support physiological birth, but also recognize when a different setting is the safest place to continue the journey. Safe transfers with good outcomes are part of safe homebirth care.

So proud of this incredible mama, her perseverance, and the way she trusted the process every step of the way. ✨

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made space for the freedoms we hold close — including the sacred ability to gather, love, grow families, and welcome new life into the world.

At Whispering Lotus Birth Services, we hold deep gratitude for those who served and for the families who carry their legacy forward.

Today we remember.
Today we honor.
Today we hold space for both grief and gratitude. 🌿

From my client once being my 🧘🏻‍♀️yoga teacher… to me becoming her midwife. ✨

I still remember the conversation we had a few years ago when we randomly were at the same location for dinner. We got on the topic of birth and she looked at me and said, “I just want you to be my midwife and have a homebirth with you.” I looked over at my fiancee and said, “I just need to open my practice.” And she simply said, “ Just do it.”

Two women who believed in me, ignited the fire within me, and gave me the courage to pursue the dream that had been quietly living in my heart all along. 🔥

That moment planted a seed that led us here. 🌿

It has been such an honor to walk alongside her through pregnancy, labor, birth, and now postpartum. Supporting women in this season of life is something I never take lightly. These relationships become so much more than client and provider — they become lifelong connections etched into my heart forever.

The 6 week postpartum visit always feels a little bittersweet. Never goodbye… just “see you later.” 💛

My clients will always have a place in my life for coffee dates, lunch meetups, and updates on their beautiful babies.

Victoria you have blossomed into the most incredible mother. Watching you and Niko grow into this new chapter with such strength, love, and grace has been beautiful to witness. Motherhood looks so good on you. ✨

Thank you for trusting me with such a sacred season of your life.

Your microbiome plays a powerful role during pregnancy ✨

The gut and vaginal microbiome help support digestion, immunity, inflammation balance, and overall wellness during pregnancy. Since GBS naturally lives in the digestive tract for many women, supporting healthy bacterial diversity through nutrition and lifestyle may help support overall microbial balance.

Simple habits can make a difference:
🌿 Eating fiber-rich foods
🥛 Including probiotic foods
💧 Staying hydrated
😴 Prioritizing rest and stress reduction

Pregnancy wellness starts from within 🤍

A healthy pregnancy is about more than vitamins — it’s also about supporting the beautiful ecosystem within your body.

Trust your body. Nourish deeply. ✨

Have you heard of the Miles Circuit? 🤍

The Miles Circuit is a gentle sequence of positions and movements often used in late pregnancy or early labor to encourage optimal fetal positioning and create more balance in the pelvis.

Many families use it when:
✨ Baby feels “sunny side up”
✨ Labor is slow or inconsistent
✨ Baby hasn’t engaged
✨ They simply want to encourage good positioning before
labor begins

The goal isn’t to “force” labor — it’s to help create space, balance, and alignment so baby can navigate the pelvis more easily.

Remember: every baby and every labor is unique. Sometimes rest, hydration, patience, and positioning can make a beautiful difference 🤍

Due dates are just an estimate — not an expiration date. 🌿

A “due date” is really a guess based on averages, and very few babies arrive on that exact day. Birth is a process guided by both baby and body, not a calendar.

For healthy, low-risk pregnancies, normal term pregnancy ranges from:

• Early term: 37–38 weeks
• Full term: 39–40 weeks
• Late term: 41 weeks
• Post-term: 42+ weeks

Many babies simply need more time to grow, position themselves, mature their lungs, and prepare for labor.

Waiting for spontaneous labor can feel emotional and uncomfortable, but sometimes the most important work is happening quietly behind the scenes. ✨

Your baby is not “late.”
Your baby is still writing their birth story. 🤍

Homebirth is not about proving anything.
It’s about being cared for in a way that honors your body, your baby, your choices, and your intuition.

For many families, homebirth offers something deeply meaningful: calm surroundings, continuous support, informed decision-making, and the ability to labor without unnecessary disruption.

Birth is sacred.
And you deserve to feel safe, heard, held, and loved through every part of it ❤️

Curious about homebirth? I’d love to chat. 🌿

Postpartum recovery is not something to “push through.” It is a major physical, emotional, and hormonal transition that deserves gentleness and support.

So many mothers feel pressure to clean the house, entertain visitors, look the same, or return to normal immediately after birth — but healing was never meant to happen that way.

Rest is important. Nourishment is important. Asking for help is important. And your emotional wellbeing matters just as much as your physical recovery.

You do not need to bounce back to prove your strength. 🤍

Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses with graduate-level medical training in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, newborn, and women’s healthcare 🤍

But midwifery is so much more than credentials alone.

It’s sitting with women through the unknown.
Holding space during powerful transitions.
Listening deeply.
Educating gently.
Protecting informed choice.
Trusting the wisdom of the birthing body while also carrying the medical training to recognize when more support is needed.

Many people are surprised to learn that CNMs are nurse practitioners — highly trained medical providers who blend evidence-based care with compassionate, relationship-centered support.

At the heart of midwifery is this simple belief:
Women deserve to feel safe, respected, heard, and cared for throughout every season of their journey ✨
