Paxton's Journey

Paxton's Journey Once it was deemed safe, Paxton was extubated, the bolt was removed, and they began to wean him off any/all sedation.

For all of our new friends and followers of Paxton’s Journey:

On Monday, March 3rd, Paxton was returning home from baseball practice with his grandfather (Dennis Glaude) and his cousin (Spencer) when they were involved in an automobile accident. While Dennis and Spencer only sustained minor injuries, Paxton was life flighted to Greenville Memorial Hospital with parenchymal bleeding on his brain i

n 7 different places, multiple severe Grade III diffuse axonal injuries (DAIs), and multiple fractures in his pelvis, among other less severe injuries. Pax was kept intubated (on the ventilator) and sedated for several days while the doctors and nurses monitored his increased intracranial pressure (ICP) via a bolt that was placed shortly after he arrived at the hospital. On March 21st, 18 days after the accident, Paxton was transferred to CHOA to begin intensive inpatient rehab. He is having to relearn how to walk, chew, pick things up, scratch his nose, feed himself...basically everything that many of us take for granted. There have been some rough moments, but Pax is a tough kid and with your support and prayers, he WILL get through this. And today, July 2, 2025, which is 121 days…2,904 hours…174,240 minutes…10,449,999 seconds since the day our lives changed forever for anyone who's counting, Paxton is coming home for good. But this is not the end of Paxton's Journey. We've got lots more in store for you, our precious followers, and we will continue to post updates as Paxton continues his recovery. Thank you for being here and for your continued support and prayers. It truly means the world to our family and we are so very thankful for each of you.

6/7 8:45 pm Pax Update

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far! We are all adjusting to a bit slower pace, although it still seems to be busier than we like!

Pax is still having PT, OT, Speech, baseball therapy and tutoring every week! We do try to fit some fun things in between!

He continues to improve cognitively and has gotten much better with his reading comprehension. We are also working on some 5th grade math concepts just to get him a little familiar with it all before school starts.

I’ve included a video that I’ve had for over a week now. I really wasn’t sure whether I would post it or not. For us, it’s hard to watch day after day. It’s not really a tremor anymore, it’s more like spasticity. And it honestly seems like it has gotten worse instead of better😢😢😢.

But we are forging ahead even though some days are harder, we remain positive and encouraging to Paxton and therefore to ourselves. We seem to get down about it more than he does! He just compensates for it by just not using it much. Sometimes I catch him just instinctually using it before he thinks and lefty cooperates better! We have an appointment June 23rd at CHOA with a “New Movement Disorder” doctor so help us pray for that this appointment will bring some relief and healing for “lefty”!

Pax looked very serious in the video when he’s thanking each one of you for remembering him on his birthday! But I promise you he was elated over every card and gift, read every card and note out loud! You guys are awesome and we love each one of you!

5/21 well…….Pax didn’t get his wish last night! The Braves lost 15-14! It was a hard fought game and all the boys did so well! They played their hearts out but it just wasn’t to be! Pax had three singles and 4 RBI’s and scored twice⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️. He didn’t take the loss well as you can see from the picture! But we are so proud of how well he played this season! God gave us this baseball season and blessed us all as we cheered him on⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️. Now, on to improving his skills and getting ready for next year!

5/20 IT’S THE NINETH YEAR OF THE 10 YEARS OF PAX!

Can’t believe our boy will be double digits tomorrow morning when he wakes up! He is so excited!

This nineth year was a busy, busy year! Between therapy twice a week, baseball therapy, school, tutoring, church, basketball, baseball and just being a kid……we are all tired! But a thankful and blessed tired! God has big plans for Pax and we can’t wait to see how his life unfolds!

Here is a list of 10 words that describe the new Paxton

Resilient - the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties

Warrior - actively engaged in a fight

Mentally tough - unshakable, persistent

Unbreakable - indestructible and tough

Fortitude - unyielding perseverance

Tenacious - mental and emotional power to endure pain or adversity with courage

Grit - being very determined and not giving up

Determination - being dedicated to a purpose

Persistence - continued effort toward a goal

Resolute - firmness of purpose

Paxton is ALL of these and more! I just stopped at 10! He is our hero and we will never be able to praise God enough for saving Pax that fateful day.

Thank you to all you prayer warriors who prayed for all of these things as you prayed for Paxton! We are forever thankful for our followers!

So here we are year eight. The year that was going to be Paxton’s year. He and Sawyer made AllStars⭐️⭐️. Paxton was catcher for his team and did a phenomenal job and Sawyer played short stop! Then came football, wrestling and basketball. He was a busy kid excelling at the sports he loved and living his best life!

This was also the year that everything changed. The year that now represents the “before the accident” and “after the accident”way of life! A life we would never have signed up for but we believe God had appointed Pax for such a time. Year eight was the hardest year for Paxton. The odds were against him, we were told he might live in a vegetative state! Oh……..but God! God infused healing, determination, perseverance, never give up attitude, keep pushing, keep reaching for the stars into Paxton and Paxton just soared!

Paxton IS the goodness of God!

So many pictures that fb might not let me post them all but I’ll try to pick out a good sampling!

Three more days of school then it’s Pax’s birthday! He is so excited to celebrate! Last year at this time he was coming home on the weekends while still working hard in Day Rehab every day! And honestly he didn’t really know he was missing a big celebration with friends for his birthday! But this year, he’s fully aware he will be double digits come Thursday and wants a pool party 🎈 I know you guys are all over the world but have you noticed this is a weird spring??? We still have chilly mornings and cool evenings. So pool water hasn’t warmed up enough for ME to get in but I guess the kids don’t really care!!!

Thanks for indulging me with these 10 posts reminiscing and remembering our Pax! We are forever thankful to our gracious Lord for saving and continuing to heal him.
