Sometimes the best connections happen by chance!

One day, on my way into Carroll Drug in Southwest Harbor, I happened to meet a lovely woman who serves as the Community Health Educator at MDI Hospital. After a brief introduction and conversation, she kindly invited me to participate in a local health fair.

I’m so grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful health-focused businesses and organizations serving our area. Even more special was getting to meet and talk with members of the community! 👣

Our new Ellsworth office will allow us to serve even more members of our community while continuing to provide the mobile foot care our patients already know and depend on.

🌊 A little while ago, Gail made another trip to Islesford, Maine, to provide mobile foot care to members of the island community.

One of the things that makes Firm Foundation Foot Care unique is our commitment to bringing professional foot care to those who may not be able to travel easily—even if that means taking a boat to get there!

One of the things I love most about this work is the opportunity to help people stay comfortable, mobile, and independent. Whether it's routine foot care, diabetic foot care, or helping someone who can no longer easily care for their own feet, every visit is a chance to make a difference.

These photos always make me stop and think.

What if this was your mom? Your dad? Your grandmother? Your neighbor?

For many people, foot care isn't just a matter of hygiene—it's something they physically can't do anymore. Age, arthritis, diabetes, back problems, or limited mobility can make even reaching their feet impossible.

The hard part is that many people won't ask for help. They don't want to be a burden. They may be embarrassed. So they live with pain, discomfort, and foot problems that often get worse over time.

Take a moment today to check in on someone you care about. Ask them how they're doing. Ask if they're having trouble caring for themselves. That simple conversation could make a bigger difference than you realize.

Everyone deserves to be comfortable, treated with dignity, and able to put their best foot forward.

Many people don’t realize how important routine foot care becomes as we age.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 in 4 adults age 65 and older experiences a fall each year, and foot pain, poor balance, and neglected foot issues can contribute to mobility problems and instability.

❄️ Snowy Day of Care on Islesford ❄️

Yesterday was a beautiful (and snowy!) day traveling out to Islesford to care for some of my wonderful island clients.

Serving the coastal islands of Down East Maine means bundling up, watching the weather, and sometimes navigating snow and ferry schedules — but it’s always worth it.

I’m so grateful to care for year-round residents, repeat clients, and even summer residents who return each season knowing they have trusted, in-home medical foot care waiting for them.

Living on an island shouldn’t mean going without essential care. Comfort, stability, and healthy feet matter in every season — especially in winter.
