When Sara noticed a lump in her breast she didn't waste any time getting it checked by a doctor. Tests confirmed it was breast cancer, but a Macmillan nurse was there from the very beginning, making things a little easier.

Meet the team: The first team member to say hello is Stace 👋 she lives on the beautiful North Wales coast with her Husband and fellow team mate Chris and their 2 children Olly 10 and Amelie 4.

This is what she says about taking part in the mighty hikes challenge… 🏔🥾
‘ This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this and it’s fair to say I am pretty nervous, 26 miles is a LONG way! However I have watched some pretty special people fight this horrible disease with bravery and tenacity. It’s time to put on my big girl pants and do my bit to help raise much needed funds.
One of my main motivations for taking part is my lovely Grandma Jessie… I was about 19 and trying my best to navigate life as an adult teenager. I got home from work one day, put the kettle on when Jessie called me to sit down. She told me she had cancer of the oesophagus and she was pretty poorly. At that moment my world tipped upside down. The next 12 months were some of the most painful in my life, watching this amazing lady fade at the hands of cancer broke my heart. However with the help and support we got from Macmillan cancer support my beautiful Grandma was able to stay at home with us right to the very end. This was her one and only wish and it meant everything to us to be able to fulfill it. Without Macmillan we would not have been able to do this. I will forever be grateful to them and their wonderful nurses who offered us light in our darkest days.’

Thank you for sharing, Stace you got this! 💪🏻

Welcome to Team Northern Souls, on the 18th of June we will be completing a marathon hike in the Macmillan Mighty Hikes challenge. We will trek 26 miles 😱 across the Lake District, to raise money for the fantastic work of Macmillan cancer support.
