The average wait time for a deceased donor kidney is 3-5 years and can be up to 10 years in some parts of the country. A living kidney donor can help me get “off the list” sooner and on to living my life.

For those living with kidney failure, there are only two treatment options: dialysis or a transplant. I’m currently relying on dialysis to stay alive while I search for a matching kidney donor.

A new kidney will give me freedom off dialysis so I can spend meaningful time with my family and friends. I would like to return to work and pursue a career working with animals or children.

A new kidney would allow me to fulfill my dream of starting a family through adoption, something that every 26-year-old woman should have the chance to do. I will be able to travel freely and visit my sister in Virginia, without the constraints of dialysis.

It’s ok if you aren’t a match or compatible with my blood and tissue type. You can still help me by going through the testing process to see if you could donate a kidney through the paired kidney exchange or kidney swap.

Although I won’t directly receive your kidney, I will receive a lifesaving kidney from someone else in the exchange. You will then donate your kidney to someone else who is in need, saving my life and at least one other person.
