The recent passing of NASCAR champion Kyle Busch has brought renewed attention to sepsis — a RARE but very serious medical emergency that can develop when the body has an extreme response to an infection.
While sepsis is uncommon, recognizing the warning signs early can save lives. Seek immediate medical attention if you or a loved one experiences:
• High fever or very low body temperature
• Rapid heart rate or breathing
• Extreme pain or discomfort
• Confusion or difficulty staying awake
• Shortness of breath
• Pale, clammy, or mottled skin
Sepsis can sometimes begin from infections like pneumonia, the flu, urinary tract infections, or even untreated wounds. Most infections do NOT lead to sepsis, but it’s important to listen to your body and seek care when symptoms suddenly worsen or feel severe.
At Highland Urgent Care, we’re here to evaluate concerning symptoms and help determine when higher-level emergency care may be needed. Early treatment matters. 💙
