Coronary heart disease develops gradually, often without symptoms, which is why it is sometimes called a silent condition. According to the CDC, about half of people in the United States have at least one of the three key risk factors for heart disease: high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, or smoking.

Beyond these three, several other factors can raise a patient's risk of developing coronary artery disease, including diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol use.

Prima CARE offers cardiac evaluations across Fall River, Somerset, Swansea, Westport and Tiverton, and patients can request an appointment to review their personal heart disease risk factors.
