One of the biggest lessons I've learned during knee replacement recovery is that healing comes with ups and downs.
Some days you feel stronger.
Other days you feel like you've gone backward.
Maybe that's true of life, too.
What's something in your life right now where you're learning to trust the process?

One of the biggest lessons I've learned during knee replacement recovery is that healing comes with ups and downs.
Some days you feel stronger.
Other days you feel like you've gone backward.
Maybe that's true of life, too.
Whether it's recovery, a relationship, a creative project, a career change, or a goal you've set for yourself, progress rarely follows a straight line.

Pain has a sneaky way of shrinking your world little by little.
Parking closer. Sitting sooner. Mentally calculating every step before saying yes to plans.
In a few days, I’ll have knee replacement surgery. I’m nervous. I’m hopeful. And somewhere in the middle of all that, I’m also finishing my first cookbook.
This column is about fear, chapter 2, learning new things and why I finally decided it was time to stop adjusting my life around pain.
