Last week we talked about estrogen. This week, we’re tackling one of the biggest fears that comes up when we start talking about hormones: breast cancer risk.

Welcome to Episode 22 of my signature series: ❣️ What Women Were Never Told.
The relationship between hormone therapy and breast cancer is a lot more nuanced than “hormones cause cancer.” The type of hormone therapy, timing, personal history, and individual risk factors all matter. Hormones aren’t something to fear or take casually.

Did last week’s estrogen episode or this conversation change anything you thought you knew about hormones? Tell me below.

It’s probably time I reintroduced myself!

I’m Amanda. Nurse practitioner, business owner, wife, mom, coach, wannabe gardener, newbie ranch girl, former college athlete, cold brew lover, and someone who has never been very good at sitting still. A lot has changed over the years, from growing up in Fessenden to spending 20 years in Bismarck, moving back home, and eventually taking the leap to build Dragonfly Health & Wellness. But one thing hasn’t changed: I genuinely love taking care of people, hearing their stories, asking questions, and continuing to learn along the way.

So whether you’ve been here for a while or you’re brand new, hi! I’m glad you’re here! Follow along for health, real life, and everything in between.

Estrogen symptoms can look very different depending on what’s happening in your body. Higher estrogen activity may show up as bloating, breast tenderness, heavier periods, or mood changes, while lower estrogen is commonly associated with hot flashes, night sweats, sleep changes, brain fog, vaginal dryness, and changes to your cycle.

The tricky part is that symptoms can overlap, and they don’t always tell us exactly what your hormone levels are. That’s why looking at the full picture matters.

Have you ever had your estrogen levels tested? Did the results surprise you? Let’s talk in the comments.

Estrogen gets talked about a lot, but do you actually know what it does in your body?

It plays a role in your brain, bones, muscles, skin, reproductive health, and so much more. And your levels naturally change throughout your cycle and different stages of life. Instead of labeling estrogen as good or bad, I want women to understand what their hormones are doing and why the full picture matters. Swipe through for a simple breakdown of estrogen, and save this one for the next time hormones come up in conversation! 🤍

Estrogen isn’t the enemy. In fact, your body needs it for so much more than your menstrual cycle.

Welcome to Episode 21 of my signature series: ❣️ What Women Were Never Told. This episode is all about estrogen. What it actually does, why your body needs it, and why understanding the full hormone picture matters more than labeling estrogen as “good” or “bad.”

What questions do you have about estrogen? Ask me in the comments!

I used to think parasites weren’t much of a concern.

As a medical provider, I ordered hundreds of stool tests over the years looking for parasites…and rarely found them. That reinforced much of what I had learned in school and experienced in traditional practice.

Then something happened that challenged my perspective.

While trying to help a family member, our family completed a parasite cleanse together. During the process, I passed what appeared to be long, spaghetti-like worms multiple times. I can’t tell you with certainty what I saw without laboratory confirmation, but the experience made me question what I thought I knew and want to learn more.

Today, I approach the topic with more curiosity. Parasites are real, but that doesn’t mean everyone has one or that every unexplained symptom is caused by a parasite. Your symptoms, history, potential exposures, travel, and the full clinical picture all matter.

There are also countless “parasite cleanses” being promoted online, and I don’t believe everyone should automatically be doing one. I want to understand the individual first and determine whether further evaluation or a protocol makes sense for them.

My perspective has changed because of my own experience, continued education, and what I’ve seen in practice. And I’m always willing to keep learning as the research evolves.

Wondering if parasites could be worth investigating for you? I’ve opened Parasite Consults, where we can evaluate your symptoms and history and determine whether my parasite detox protocol may be appropriate for you.

Schedule a parasite consult today through the link in my bio or by messaging me directly.

Meet Betty! 😂 Apparently Kaitlin has already named the parasite she thinks she has, so naturally, I had some questions!

Is Betty real? We’re going to find out. Stay tuned because I’ll be sharing more about parasites, the protocol I personally use, who may actually benefit from testing or treatment, our results.

In the meantime, tell me: have you ever wondered if you have a parasite? Or had a parasite?

Your cycle is about so much more than just your period.

Welcome to Episode 20 of my signature series: ❣️ What Women Were Never Told.
This episode is all about cycle tracking. What to pay attention to, why patterns matter, and how understanding your cycle can give you valuable insight into your body and hormones.

What questions do you have about tracking your cycle? Ask me in the comments!

So, do YOU actually need a GI-MAP? For the final part of my results, we’re looking at page 4 and answering the bigger question: who may benefit from this type of testing and why?

If you’ve been dealing with persistent digestive symptoms and feel like you’re still missing answers, a GI-MAP may be one tool worth discussing. I personally love this test and believe everyone can benefit from understanding their results.

If you’re curious about GI-MAP testing or want more information, reach out to me! Send me a message or book a free 15-minute consultation and let’s talk.

Yep, we’re talking about parasites! 💩 Part 2 of my GI-MAP results is all about page 3, including what this test can tell us about parasites and other organisms living in the gut. With back to school season here, I’m also sharing why I’m doing a parasite cleanse with my family and how you can benefit from one, as well!

Have you ever wondered about parasites or parasite testing? Drop your questions below. Nothing is too weird!
