getting diagnosed with cancer young is wild
you go from living your life to suddenly becoming hyper-aware of everything happening inside your body. Something foreign is there, and all you can think about is getting it OUT and getting yourself healthy.
so, you lock in.
you change the way you eat. You start reading every ingredient. You eliminate things you never thought twice about before. You learn about herbs, vitamins, movement, sleep, stress, toxins, your environment…all of it. You become incredibly intentional because, at the time, it feels like your life depends on it.
+ then you finally hear the words you’ve been praying for: cancer-free.
the relief is indescribable. For a while, you keep doing everything you learned. But eventually…life starts feeling normal again and little by little, the urgency fades.
convenience creeps back in. Old habits start showing up. You start making exceptions. You know better, you literally have the knowledge and lived experience, but knowing and consistently doing are two very different things.
+ lately, I’ve caught myself doing exactly that. I can feel myself drifting back toward parts of the lifestyle I had before cancer. That realization hit me hard.
not because I think I can control everything that happens to my body. I can’t. And not because living “perfectly” guarantees cancer will never come back. It doesn’t.
but I do know what it feels like when I’m truly taking care of myself. I know the habits that make me feel strong, clear, energized, and connected to my body. I fought too hard and learned too much to casually abandon those things just because the immediate threat feels farther away.
so, this is me calling myself back. Time to lock in again 🌱
