A little love for the people who are always looking out for us. 🧡🩵🌊

We spend a lot of time in the water at Folly Beach, and we never take for granted the police, fire and first responders who are there keeping watch over our community—on the busiest beach days, during events, and all the ordinary days in between.

This photo was taken during the Nicole Elko Payne Classic a few weeks ago, and it felt like the perfect reminder to simply say THANK YOU. 🙏

Reflecting on another great clinic with Hammocks on the Edisto last week!

Last week’s clinic was all about letting go - of the things you can’t control, the ideas that no longer serve you, and the negative self-talk that gets in the way of progress and acceptance.

Here, at W4W, we are passionate about inspiring confidence and well-being through surf therapy. It was an honor to serve the women of Hammocks, and to inspire them to “let go” of stressors and challenges while out on the water.

Congratulations to the incredible women who completed this clinic, and a huge thank you to the many volunteers and supporters who make the mission of W4W possible! We couldn’t do it without you.

Whether she’s at a clinic, pushing a participant into a wave, or at her kitchen table “office,” thoughtfully planning programs and events, “Mama Sarah” truly personifies what it means to be part of the Waves 4 Women community. Her encouragement, kindness, and joy are evident to all lucky enough to cross her path, and her devotion to Waves 4 Women is unparalleled.

Doing good feels good. 🧡🩵🩷

One of the beautiful things about volunteering is that while you’re helping someone else, something often shifts inside of you, too.

You leave with sandy feet, a full heart, new friendships, and the reminder that showing up for others has a way of helping us show up for ourselves.

At Waves 4 Women, our volunteers are so much more than extra hands. They are encouragers, listeners, board carriers, cheerleaders, mentors, and a big part of what makes this community feel so special.

We’re incredibly grateful for every woman who gives her time, energy, and heart to support our mission.

This joy? This connection? This is what happens when people come together to do good.

Sometimes the most caring thing we can do is make the hard call early. 🌊💙

Out of respect for our participants, volunteers, and the beautiful community that shows up for Waves 4 Women, we’ve made the decision to cancel this Saturday’s surf therapy clinic due to the forecasted weather conditions. ⛈️☔️

We know many women arrange childcare, work schedules, transportation, emotional energy, and courage just to say “yes” to showing up. Making this decision ahead of time allows everyone the space to pivot, regroup, and make other plans without the added stress of uncertainty.

Our participants will be contacted individually with information about upcoming clinic opportunities, and we cannot wait to get everyone back on the beach soon. ☀️

🏄‍♀️ Yesterday was our first women’s-only surf therapy clinic kickoff of the season, and WOW!!! — the energy was something special. 🌊☀️

Our Waves 4 Women volunteers showed up in full force with open hearts, steady encouragement, and the kind of presence that helps women feel safe enough to try, connect, laugh, breathe, and heal.🫶🏄‍♀️

This monthly clinic is in partnership with , an incredible women’s only addiction and recovery program.

Because of the sensitive and sacred nature of this work, we do not always share photos of the women who participate. Protecting their privacy, dignity, and experience will always matter more than capturing the moment.

But trust us when we say — these women were served beautifully. 😍 They showed up with courage, and our volunteers helped create a safe, nonjudgmental space where they could connect with each other, with the ocean, and with themselves.

🙏 To our volunteers: Thank you for carrying the mission before the first wave ever rolls in. 🌊

You are the heart of Waves 4 Women. 🧡

Why Waves 4 Women? 🌊

Because women heal differently when they heal with other women.

W4W was created by women, it is led by women, and intentionally designed to support women through all kinds of life experiences and transitions.

Women come to us for all kinds of healing — carrying stress, burnout, grief, recovery journeys, divorce, loneliness, past abuse, caregiver exhaustion, or seasons that have left them disconnected from themselves.

At Waves 4 Women, we believe surf therapy is about more than learning to surf.

It’s about stepping into the ocean exactly as you are — nervous, hopeful, healing, strong, uncertain, brave — and being met with encouragement instead of judgment.

We are a space where women can breathe deeper, laugh louder, reconnect with themselves, and remember who they are underneath everything life has handed them.
