A Tribe Called Lexx Empowering people through education, fitness, and food. As an athlete, I’ve experienced all the highs of winning and the lows of injuries.

While everyone loves a great comeback kid, we often forget more than just the physical needs to be healed. Tribe Training is about full body appreciation: Mind, Body, and Soul. We take care of our mind through building a routine to stay sharp and clear. We take care of our body through movement and fitness to keep the body active and flexible. Through food, we appreciate and heal our soul. As a Certified Personal Trainer, my goal is to embolden you through education, fitness, and food.

If you would have told me back in 2014 that one day I’d be the coach LEADING workout classes, I would have laughed in your face, called you an idiot, and walked away needing a drink. 😂

2014 Alexxis rarely moved her body, rarely acted intentionally, and certainly wasn’t getting up in front of people to teach anything. She loved her desk job, Tampa strip clubs, day drinking on the beach, and late-night Wendy’s runs.

2015 Alexxis faced a lot: a depression + ADD diagnosis, job loss, and heartbreak.

This was the year she found God again, started dabbling in self-awareness, and hired a personal trainer.

But the goal wasn’t health…

2016 changed everything.

A big move to NYC.

No friends. No family. Just me, cold weather, packed trains, and the chaos of figuring life out in a city that never stopped moving. 😩😍

2017 kicked off my obsession with how I looked.

Two-a-days.
Five days a week.
Little sleep.
Sometimes barely eating.

I became obsessed with shrinking myself.

Every pound lost felt like proof I was finally doing something right. 🫠

2018 brought another heartbreak—and an even more strained relationship with food.

No recovery.
No rest.
No listening.

Just go.
Just do.
Never just be.

Then came 2019.

A trip to Puerto Rico.
A jump rope.
Weak ankles.

One Achilles rupture.

And just like that…

Life sat me ALL the way down.

Surgery.
Rehab.
Healing.
Starting over.

For the first time, my body wasn’t asking me to push harder.

It was BEGGING me to slow down.

That’s when I found Pilates.

What started as rehabilitation quickly became a relationship.

For the first time, movement felt intentional instead of obsessive.
Supportive instead of restrictive.
Sustainable instead of extreme.

And somewhere along the way, the girl terrified of being seen became the woman teaching others how to reconnect with themselves through movement.

Funny how life works, huh?

Sometimes the thing that breaks you is the very thing that introduces you to yourself. 💜

8 months in. 8 things I’ve learned as a coach:

🎶 Music matters - Music sets the tone, motivates, and sometimes helps coordinate movement. NGL, most of my playlist are hits from when I was college. Figure it out or just come to class for a taste…

🔥 Spicy doesn’t have to mean difficult - Keeping things slow can be as effective as doing a high powered thrust lunge spider kick double backflip.

🔢 I swear I know how to count!!!

🧘🏽‍♀️ Bookend your day - Someone once shared this with me and OMFG the importance of having even the tiniest ritual to book end your day will makes THE BIGGEST difference in how you move!!!

💰 It isn’t an instant bag - unless you have a main ting, a lock on a high paying studio, or a consistent book of private clients, you’re in for multiple locations and/or over 15 classes per week.

😩 Burnout is real AF - see above 👆🏽👆🏽

😜 Personality >> Performance - if you have the personality, you don’t have to perform. 💋 Yes this job, as any is tiring. You’re using your body! If you enjoy what you do, it should show in how you show up on the mat.
