“Three years ago, I competed at the Masters World Championships in Finland, and my hip felt like a Barbie doll leg ready to fall off. I was told I needed more glute strength, but l thought I was already doing enough. After pushing through a few more races, I finally had to shut it all down-retiring from racing and turning to cross training and strength.
A year later, I came across one of Nicole’s posts about core training and decided to work with her. I didn’t set out to compete in bodybuilding-I just wanted to feel strong and balanced again. Almost a year and a half later, the difference is incredible. My shoulders and glutes are stronger, my body feels more balanced, and l’ve even gone from a rectangular build to a more lean hourglass shape. Best of all, I feel stable when I run-I no longer clip my ankle bone because of poor balance.
The biggest lesson l’ve learned from Nicole is that I don’t need to run longer and longer to feel and look my best. Strength training has allowed me to get stronger without the constant fatigue, and I’m actually running faster on less mileage. Just this week, I ran a half marathon at the same pace that felt nearly impossible for me in a 10K just a few months ago.
I can’t recommend Nicole enough-especially for women, including postpartum women (no matter how many years it’s been). I only wish every woman could go through this kind of strength and stability training as part of their routine care.
