Backpacks are packed. Classrooms are open. But some children are walking into school carrying a battle no one else can see.
Back-to-school stress may appear as stomachaches, tears, irritability, trouble sleeping, panic, shutting down, or refusing to attend school.
These behaviors are not automatically a diagnosis, but they are communication.
Before calling it “attitude,” pause and ask:
“What feels hardest right now?”
“Is something happening at school?”
“Do you feel safe?”
“What would make tomorrow feel easier?”
If the changes continue, worsen, or interfere with everyday life, professional support can help.
At Shiloh Health, we believe faith and evidence-based mental-health care can work together.
