🦟 Mosquito Awareness: Protect Yourself & Your Family 🦟

Mosquitoes are more than just a nuisance—they can spread diseases that affect people and animals. Taking a few simple precautions can help keep your family safe this season.

✅ Use EPA-approved insect repellent when outdoors
✅ Wear long sleeves and pants when possible
✅ Empty standing water around your home, including buckets, tires, bird baths, and flower pots
✅ Keep doors and windows screened to prevent mosquitoes from entering your home
✅ Avoid outdoor activities at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active

🌿 Community Action Matters!
A small amount of standing water is all it takes for mosquitoes to breed. Check your yard weekly and encourage family members, friends, and neighbors to do the same.

💧 Tip: Dump, Drain, and Dry! Eliminate standing water to help reduce mosquito populations in your community.

🦬❣️Txatxanka Woiyaksape (Buffalo Teachings) Announcement! ❣️🦬

Please join us for our 4th annual Tatanka teachings at the Brown Otter Buffalo Ranch on June 15th, 2026, in Rock Creek, SD starting at 9am.

Standing Rock Community members are welcome to come participate with students from American Indian Public Health Center- Indigenous Food Sovereignty Emerging Leaders Program's. We will be learning about hunting protocol along with uses of the buffalo through storytelling and hands-on work. Butchering supplies will be provided for use but must be returned each day. This event is open to all families; however, all children must be accompanied by an adult. We are not responsible for any accidents.
