The Heart of ABA: BCBAs & RBTs

September is a meaningful time to celebrate the caring BCBAs and RBTs who focus on the person
before the therapy plan.

They notice the little breakthroughs, nurture growth with encouragement, and support families as each milestone comes into view.

Thank you for the kindness, dedication, and care you share every day. The difference you make goes far beyond the therapy room.

Communication is not the same for every person. Some may pause before answering, while others use pictures, gestures, or devices to share. True inclusion starts when we listen with patience and care.

DECODING ABA: An Essential Guide

TERM: Stimulus control (SD)

A signal that helps guide behavior in the right setting.

Explanation: Stimulus control happens when a cue consistently tells a child which behavior is expected in a certain situation. Over time, these cues can help children understand routines, respond with confidence, and build more independence throughout the day.

For example, hearing “Clean up, please” may signal that it is time to place toys back where they belong. Consistent cues help make expectations easier to understand.
