Melissa Mooney-Lopez AKA Mel
Yoga Teacher, Wellness Guide, Mother & Wife

Melissa began practicing yoga over a decade ago. Yoga’s ability to heal became abundantly clear to Melissa after years of living with the painful effects of multiple sports related injuries. She found yoga to be the only therapy to give her true physical and mental relief. It became obvious her path was to share this message

with the world. She became a full-time Bikram teacher in 2009. Since her Bikram Yoga training she has continued her education, getting certified in Restorative Yoga, Synergy Partner Yoga, Kids Yoga and Pre/Postnatal Yoga. Off the Mat Melissa strives to blend yoga principals into all aspects of her life. Melissa founded Let’s Balance Your Body a health and wellness brand that is dedicated to spreading the message of inspiration and wellness through social media, yoga events, transformational workshops and retreats. She has a true zest for life and is always seeking new ways to incorporate alternative approaches into her practice and teaching.

Inspired by the collective wisdom and connection shared throughout the Extracting Genius experience, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to guide others back to themselves through the practices of yoga and connection with nature.

I also left feeling empowered thanks to Stinson and the invitation to transform pain into purpose for the collective.

Through a powerful exercise, we walked, talked, and gave voice to a scared, sad, lonely, misunderstood, abandoned, rage-filled, and hopeless little girl who spent years simply wanting to be seen, heard, and loved.

The loss of my mother when I needed her most, growing up with parents navigating mental health challenges, financial insecurity, bullying, and a severe eating disorder became mountains I was forced to climb. For many years, those experiences felt like burdens. Today, I recognize they were also gifts—lessons that allow me to meet others in their pain with compassion, understanding, and hope.

Thankfully, yoga brought me home to myself. It helped me reconnect with the truth of who I am beneath the wounds, stories, and survival patterns. It taught me that healing is possible.

Part of my purpose is to help others do the same—to create space for people to pause, reconnect with their hearts, remember their worth, and discover that they are never alone on the journey.

Thank you to all of you that showed up and to the ultimate mama bear -
With gratitude,
Mel

I so honored to be collabing with the amazing and Leading a outdoor yoga class with
A message From .bain
“Hi loves,
We’re so excited to gather again tomorrow evening, and this month we have something a little extra special planned...

We’ll be meeting at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 2nd at DM FOR LOCATION.

This month, we’re thrilled to welcome our friend Be Well Mel, who will be guiding us through a beautiful outdoor yoga practice before we settle into community, connection, and time in nature together.🧘‍♀️🏞️

Our intention with Gals Off the Grid is simple: to create space to slow down, unplug from the noise, and reconnect with ourselves and one another.

All you need to bring is:
• A yoga mat
• Water
• A journal, if you’d like one for reflection

As always, you’re welcome to bring a friend who could use an evening of fresh air, movement, and meaningful connection.

If you’re planning to join us, please reply and let us know you’re coming. This helps us plan and also allows us to keep you updated if weather requires any last-minute changes.

We can’t wait to spend this time with you.

With love,

Valentina & Susan”

🌕 Once in a Blue Moon 🌕

A Blue Moon is rare.

It doesn’t follow the usual rhythm.
It doesn’t show up when expected.
It stands out.

Maybe that’s the reminder.

You were never meant to blend in.

Your gifts.
Your story.
Your voice.
Your way of doing things.

The world doesn’t need another version of someone else.

It needs the version of you that only you can be.

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect timing, the perfect plan, or the perfect amount of confidence before taking the next step…

This is your sign to stop waiting.

Trust yourself.
Take the trip.
Share the idea.
Start the conversation.
Create the thing.

There will never be another you.

And moments like this only come around once in a blue moon. 💙

Yesterday I hit a wall 💥
Not a little stress.
Not “just tired.”
A real moment where I could feel A BIG a$$ Brick wall. My nervous system said: ENOUGH.

I could feel my skin on fire, my heart racing, my chest tightening AND the RAGE bubbling.

And somehow, by the grace of God, I found myself driving straight to the park without even thinking about it. I knew I needed to be somewhere where else. I just knew I needed to go; some how the rest would work itself out.

What I didn’t know was that with all the rain we’ve had, the runoff had created this rushing stream of water — loud, wild, peaceful. Almost like nature itself was exhaling for me.

And I stopped.

I sat there listening. Absorbing. Letting the sound wash over me. Imagining the water running through every exhausted part of me, carrying away the stress, the pressure, the angst, the survival mode I’ve been living in for far too long.

This season has felt like a lot.
A lot of choices.
A lot of decisions.
A lot of moving parts.
A lot at stake.

And if I’m being honest… this walk may have changed something in me.

I hit a point where I realized my nervous system was cooked.
Not “busy.”
Not “over capacity.”
DOWN RIGHT DEPLETED.
Expantiin had a way of doing that.

My cup hasn’t overflowed in a very long time.

So much of my life has required me to operate this way; pushing through, holding it together, figuring it out, carrying all the things. And yes, I’ve always believed: God won’t give you more than you can handle, but dang following the plan isn’t always comfortable.

And I’m starting to believe something else too.

Maybe God also gives us the wisdom to know when to stop.
When to rest.
When to breathe.
When to step outside.
When to get into nature.
When to take the yoga class.
When to unplug before the body forces us to.

And there are seasons when none of those things feel like enough.

Seasons where the healing isn’t a bath or a self-care checklist.

It’s surrender.
It’s faith.
It’s truly unplugging.
Recharging.
Replenishing.
Letting yourself be held instead of always being the one holding everything else.

That’s not self-care.

That’s survival.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we’re also rounding the end of one of the busiest seasons of the year for so many of us.

Parents.
Business owners.
Caregivers.
Community leaders.
People simply trying to hold it all together.

It’s time to start addressing the fight-or-flight state so many of us have been living in for far too long. The seasons that almost broke us.

We live in a world that celebrates pushing through.
Keeping it together.
Managing. Performing. Producing.

But eventually the body starts speaking too. 💔

Sometimes through exhaustion.
Sometimes anxiety.
Sometimes inflammation, tension, sleep issues, overwhelm, numbness, or simply feeling disconnected from ourselves.

The body keeps score of what the mind tries to outrun.

And healing isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about slowing down enough to notice what’s underneath the coping, the rushing, and the constant “I’m fine.” Or on the other side of this I’ll…

Movement. Breath. Nature. Nourishing food. Rest. Community. Boundaries. Stillness. SUPPORT.

These things matter 🤍❤️‍🩹

What are you doing lately to help your body feel safe, grounded, and supported again?

A condition that impacts millions of women is getting a new name.

Polycystic o***y syndrome, or PCOS, a reproductive hormone imbalance, will now be known as polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, or PMOS for short.

A global consensus calling for the name change was published Tuesday in The Lancet, based on input from more than 50 leading academic, clinical, and patient organizations, along with feedback from more than 14,000 women with the condition.

Experts say the old name was misleading, since it suggests ovarian cysts are the main issue when they are not actually a defining feature.
