This is what looking deeper can look like. 🧪💙

This OAT showed several patterns that can give us more information about what may be going on behind the scenes:

🧪 Elevated arabinose
This can be a clue that yeast/candida may be contributing to behaviors like irritability, attention issues, brain fog, sleep issues, and gut issues.

🧪 Elevated 2 & 4 hydroxyhippuric acid
These can give us clues about environmental exposures and how the body is processing and getting rid of them.

🧠 Low or borderline-low dopamine, serotonin & norepinephrine markers
These are chemicals our brains use for things like focus, motivation, mood, sleep and emotional regulation. When they’re low, it can be another piece of the puzzle for understanding why a child may be struggling with some of these things.

And this is why sometimes “just treat the behavior” doesn’t tell the whole story.

A child can be struggling with focus, big emotions, sleep, behavior or regulation while there are other things happening in the gut, brain and body that may be contributing.

We’re not looking for one magic lab result.

We’re looking for the pieces of the puzzle. 🧩

Because when we understand more about what’s happening underneath the symptoms, we can create a much more individualized plan for that child.

A FULL week of appointments ahead of me… and I officially have NO availability left this week! 🤍

One of my favorite parts of this work is hearing what happens when patients finally feel like someone is actually listening.
