🌟 HBC Tip of the Week #3: Offer Choices 🌟

Many challenging behaviors happen when children feel like they have no control over what’s happening around them. One simple way to increase cooperation is to offer choices throughout the day.

Instead of:
❌ “Put on your shoes.”

Try:
✅ “Do you want to put on this shoe or this shoe first?”

Instead of:
❌ Choosing their cup, snack, or toy for them.

Try:
✅ Offering two options and letting them decide.

Giving choices helps children:
💜 Feel included in decision-making
💬 Practice communication skills
🌱 Build independence and confidence
😊 Increase cooperation during daily routines

This week’s challenge:
Offer your child at least 3 choices today. They can be small choices—what cup to use, which book to read, or what toy to play with. Small choices can make a big difference!

What choices does your child love making? Tell us below! 👇

🌟 HBC Tip of the Week #2 🌟

This week’s tip: Give Them Time to Figure It Out Themselves.

It can be so tempting to jump in right away when our children are struggling—but sometimes a little extra wait time gives them the opportunity to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and independence.

Try pausing before helping and give your child a chance to keep trying. You may be surprised by what they can do!

If they need support, encourage them with phrases like:
💜 “You’ve got this!”
💜 “Keep trying!”
💜 “I’m here if you need help.”

When possible, encourage communication by modeling or prompting your child to ask for help.

Remember: growth doesn’t just happen when children succeed—it happens while they’re trying.

✨ Your challenge this week:
Pick one moment this week to pause and let your child figure it out themselves.

What surprised you most when you gave your child a little extra time? Tell us below! Like and follow for more!

🌟 HBC Tip of the Week #1 🌟

This week’s tip: Follow Their Lead

When children get to choose what interests them, they’re often more engaged, more motivated, and more likely to communicate. Instead of directing the play, try joining in and letting your child take the lead.

A simple shift from:
❌ “Let’s play with the puzzle.”

To:
✅ “What do you want to play with? You choose!”

Following your child’s lead can help build connection, create natural learning opportunities, and make play more enjoyable for everyone.

💜 Your challenge this week:
Spend 10 minutes playing with whatever your child chooses and see where their imagination takes you!

Even better, build this into your normal daily play time.
