Wofford Labyrinth at Glendale Shoals Located at Glendale Shoals in Spartanburg, SC, this 40-ft. labyrinth was created by the Philosophy in Action LLC at Wofford College.

The Philosophy in Action Living-Learning Community of Wofford College is a first-year humanities class that has focused on the study of a variety of philosophers throughout the semester as well as the application of mindfulness practices in the students’ lives. These philosophers include, but are not limited to, Santideva, Nietzsche, and Plato. With the learning and understanding of these new phil

osophical texts and ideas, the next step for the class was the decision of how to apply our new knowledge in the world around us. After having the experience of walking a labyrinth in Greenville, SC and Black Mountain, NC, the class made the decision to build their own labyrinth. The labyrinth at the Goodall Environmental Studies Center on the Glendale Shoals Preserve will be five fold and 40 feet in width.
