A fantastic book for women came out this year: Next Level—Your guide to kicking ass, feeling great, and crushing goals through Menopause and beyond, by Dr. Stacy Sims (author of ROAR, for younger women)
She is the expert on Nutrition and exercise training for women and guess what! Turns out that what works for men isn’t always the best for women. Go figure.

Elevate Conditioning has updated our studio/garage space—yay! We have a new adjustable cable machine in addition to the power rack, dumbbells (up to 70 #), erg, Arc trainer, and wahoo trainer (plus all the bells, bands/attachments and balance toys!). Now offering a six week circuit training class focusing on prep for snow sports for $99. First series starting 9/19 is full but will offer a second starting on Wednesdays 9/21. Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. We got a puppy, Rosie, and she not only wakes me up between 4:30 and 5 every morning, but she takes all of my energy during my waking hours, too! Every day on our walks I think of something I want to tell people, so I am going to share something useful with you as often as I can.

“Three tips to not eat all the Halloween candy:

Keep it out of sight and hard to reach. Don’t make your life harder by testing yourself 1,247 times a day.

Build it into your budget. What happens when you can’t have something? You want it more. Take 10 to 15 percent of your calories and save them for treats.

Remember it’s not actually special. Candy is available year-round. If you don’t care about Twix bars the rest of the year, there’s no need to lose your mind over them now.”
