There is a small window of time where the last of the peaches overlap with the new blossoms of goldenrod. Then I make this yummy seasonal cordial.
Goldenrod has been bursting with bright yellow blossoms which to signals that fall is right around the corner. Goldenrod is one of my favorite medicinal plants. It’s also greatly misunderstood. Most people think goldenrod is the cause of their seasonal allergies, but since it’s insect pollinated there is not a lot of pollen floating around in the air (unlike its inconspicuous green classmate- ragweed)
Goldenrod is actually helpful for sinus and lung irritations especially those with seasonal allergies. It also has an affinity with the kidneys and it can even be made into an oil for topical uses like sore muscles.
Goldenrod peach Cordial is such a delicious way to preserve the seasons medicine and flavor that you can dip into all fall and winter. The warm honey flavor of the goldenrod, mixed with the sweetness of the summer peaches along with yummy fall spices makes this recipe a favorite!
A cordial is a delicious preservation usually involving herbs, spices, fruit, brandy and honey- yum 😋
