What helps your tubie on sick days? Tell us what you’ve tried and what difference you’ve noticed. 👇💛

And here’s our Toast with Applesauce blend from BlendBuddy to save for later!

🍞 Toast with Applesauce
Makes approximately 360 mL | 420 calories total | approximately 1.2 kcal/mL

• 2 regular slices bread (~60g)
• 1 tablespoon jelly
• 1 tablespoon butter or beef tallow
• ½ cup applesauce
• ½ cup water

Add all ingredients to your blender and blend on high for 2–3 minutes, or until completely smooth with no chunks. Strain if needed, keeping in mind that straining can remove some nutrients.

Contains milk and wheat. Final volume and nutrition may vary with the ingredients used.

What have you been told about blending that made you question your own sanity? 💬👇

We'll go first...

“Blends are too dangerous to make at home”
“It could cause awful side effects if not properly prepared”
"How will you know if they are getting enough b12?"

You want to make your child a meal. But hearing these things leaves you questioning such a natural part of parenting 😵‍💫

And yes, the concerns matter.

Food needs to be prepared and stored safely. Blends need the right consistency and equipment. Calories, fluids, and nutrition do need attention.

But it’s not helpful to just hear a list of what could go wrong.

You deserve help learning how to do this safely, without having to become an expert in every part of it.

Here’s something I’ll admit as a dietitian: earlier in my career, I heard these warnings and initially didn’t question them much.

I was busy, formula was familiar, and I hadn’t learned enough about another way. I think many clinicians have similar experiences.

But then families showed me 🫶🏽

They shared changes in their child’s digestion, but also something harder to measure: getting to choose foods, prepare a meal, and bring a piece of parenting back into feeding.

📚 And research has found better satisfaction and fewer GI symptoms in some children receiving blended feeds, too.

Families are asking about real food for a reason, and we need to support them in exploring it.

Because food doesn’t automatically become dangerous because it goes through a feeding tube.

Dismissing it often means missing an option that makes a meaningful difference in a child’s daily life.

And leaving families to figure it out alone means they may try without the guidance that helps reduce those risks.

I know how hard it can be for clinicians to find the time and training to support this, but our systems need to make room for it.

Families deserve more help than they’re getting 🧡

Tube-feeding parents…

If your child is still vomiting, refluxing, or uncomfortable despite formula changes and medication adjustments, you are not alone.

For so many tube-fed children, real food is the thing that finally helps them feel better.

But most families never start because they are too overwhelmed and don’t have the time or capacity for trial and error.

That's exactly what I'm covering in my free live workshop, Simple Start to Real Food, on October 1st at 12PM EST.

I'm a pediatric dietitian who has helped 500+ families start real food feeding safely and practically.

In 45 minutes I'm going to walk you through the exact steps to get started, without spending hours planning meals, checking calories, and wondering if you're doing it right.

Your child deserves to feel better. This is where that starts.

You've heard it from other tube-feeding families.

Real food was the thing that finally made a difference for their child.

Less vomiting. Less reflux. A happier, more comfortable kid.
And you want that too.

But every time you try to move forward, the questions stop you.

What about their calories?
How fast do I go?
What if I make things worse?

On October 1st at 12PM EST I'm hosting a free live workshop called Simple Start to Real Food, and I'm going to answer all of it.

You'll leave with a clear 3-step roadmap, the mistakes to avoid along the way, and for the first time, the feeling that things might actually get easier for your family.

No stressing about calories or nutrition. No overhauling everything overnight.

Just a simple, clear starting point that works.

Comment "SIMPLE START" to save your free seat!

Most parents worry starting a blended diet will be too time-consuming or that they’ll make symptoms worse.

But the truth is, it doesn't have to be so overwhelming.

You just need a clear starting point, and a system built for when calories and growth can't be left to guesswork.

That's what I'm giving you in Simple Start to Real Food, a free live workshop on October 1st at 12PM EST.

In 45 minutes you'll walk away with my 3-step roadmap for starting real food with confidence…

Because when we say you don't have to choose between "formula" and "blended diet," we actually built BlendBuddy to work that way.

Here's what that can look like:

1️⃣ Start small.

You don't have to replace an entire feeding on day one.

If your child needs a slower introduction, we show you how to start with small amounts of simple foods first.

2️⃣ Replace one meal when you're ready.

Choose a BlendBuddy recipe at a calorie level similar to your child's current formula and use the Transition Planner to figure out the swap.

So instead of wondering "If I remove this much formula, how much blend do I give?" you have a clear place to start while keeping daily calorie intake the same.

3️⃣ Keep using formula.

Seriously, especially in the beginning.

Use it for the other meals. Use it on the days you don't have anything made.

Adding blended food doesn't mean formula suddenly becomes off-limits.

4️⃣ Add variety without starting over.

Once you know which calorie level works for your child, you can mix and match 100+ recipes at that same level.

Different foods, different recipes, same underlying structure, so nothing about the plan itself changes.

No redoing the math every time you want to make something different.

👏👏👏

That's the whole point.

A blended diet shouldn't require you to make every meal from scratch, hit some impossible standard of "perfect," or feel guilty when you reach for formula.

It needs to be realistic enough that you can actually keep doing it.
