Healthy Directions Coalition We are people who live and work in the Florence area who feel passionate about reducing substance abuse and promoting health in our community.

Healthy Directions is a Florence based coalition working with Prevention Lane. Working towards healthy families and children in Western Lane county by reducing the risk of alcohol use by our youth.

The Healthy Directions Coalition recently partnered with OLCC to help facilitate a responsible beverage serving practices training for alcohol distributors in Florence. Thank you to Frank Matsko from OLCC, FPD Sergeant Denton Tipler, and Jessica Palma of the Lincoln County Health & Human Services office for contributing their time and valuable expertise to this training in our effort to promote the health and safety of the Florence community!

Abbie is a Community Health Analyst on the alcohol and drug prevention team. She works with this team to support the Florence Healthy Directions coalition in creating healthy sustainable pathways to alcohol prevention for our young people on the coast.

Abbie has a bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and recently earned her Masters of Public Health in Community Health Promotion, with an emphasis on Health Equity from the University of Minnesota. Before joining the team at Lane County, she coordinated a tech-based app development project at the University of Minnesota Extension, creating more equitable and inclusive evaluation methods for community health education programming. She also has experience in mental health and wellness, racial health disparities, and public health planning efforts while working for NAMI Minnesota and Saint Paul –Ramsey County Public Health Department in Minnesota’s Twin Cities.

Abbie comes to Oregon from the lovely but cold Midwest. She is the proud daughter of Hmong refugees who settled in Wisconsin during the 70’s and loves to share the story of the Hmong. Outside of work, Abbie enjoys exploring the beautiful PNW landscape, writing, cooking, stand-up comedy, creating music, and learning about/celebrating different cultures.
