I know I’m good at the actual work… but I didn’t realize how heavily I’d have to rely on social media and the internet to spread that awareness 😭
I didn’t want to be an ā€˜influencer’ or a marketing strategist or whatever the h*ll this role is titled…. I JUST want to work with families 😩

My content is sporadic for that reason…I get burnt out from the pressure of posting Every. Single. Day. About. Every. Little. Thing.🫩

So if you know me as a friend, a family member, a co-worker or maybe our paths have crossed during your pregnancy and postpartum period, know that your kind words about me and my work do NOT go unappreciated. And when you help spread that word for me, it truly means the world to mešŸ«¶šŸ¼

Your pump came with a fl**ge.

That does not mean it came with your fl**ge size, and yes…fl**ge size, shape and sometimes even material matters.

Your body isn’t ’standard issue’.

Even if it feels comfortable, you should have an experienced IBCLC evaluating the start of every pumping journey.
And if it isn’t comfortable and you know something is…off…before buying another pump, supplement or gadget- let’s take the look and start with the basics. Plus…I’ve got a whole library of fl**ges we can trial šŸ˜‰

šŸ“ Personalized education, support, assessment and fl**ge fitting is right in your back pocket with The Milk Grove.

There are moments in life that stay with you forever, the kind you remember so vividly and shape you into who you are today.

There are 4 moments specifically that fueled the start of The Milk Grove:

šŸ¤ Nearly 2 weeks spent trying to hide my pregnant belly before a first time mom finally asked when I was due.
I hesitated for a while, trying to figure out how to tell her I had the same due date as her 26wkr laying in the bed between us.
Instead of jealousy, discomfort or even sadness…her response of immediate genuine concern.
ā€œAre you ok doing this?ā€
Ten weeks later she walked into my postpartum room with a gift bag.

šŸ¤ A text from my cousin of the decision for an urgent C/S of her 23wk twins, dad wasn’t there yet.
I was on admit that day.
I remember running down the hallway as they were wheeling her to the OR, leaning over and hugging her as we pushed her through those doors telling her ā€˜Its going to be ok’… and then turned around to resuscitate and care for my niece.

šŸ¤ A former NICU graduate turned friend.
The phone call to come in for a critical term delivering came in at 2:50am.
As I scrubbed in and read the baby’s name on the board, my heart sunk to the floor as I realized who I was there for.
The relief on mom’s face, during her first visit, through the tangle of equipment and cords is one I’ll never forget.

šŸ¤ The fourth is a mom battling postpartum psychosis. The disassociation preventing her from enjoying the beauty of parenthood lasted almost 1 year.

These experiences changed me.
They shape the way I see pregnancy, birth, feeding, trauma and postpartum.

Our medical system was never designed to adequately prepare families for all of this- or even to provide the kind of ongoing, individualized support deserved.

There is so much work to do.
And The Milk Grove is my small step towards providing better care.

I’ve had a few postpartum doula spaces become available for November, December & January.

Rather than leave those spaces open, I’d love to offer them to families who may need a little extra support during their fourth trimester.

For families who book postpartum doula support during these months, I’m offering 10% off services šŸ¤
