D2 Board of Directors spent a great day in training, engaging and fellowshipping. It was a pleasure to have State Board members to participate and engage with D2. Special thanks to President Calvin Bennett (Meridian), President-Elect Dr. Tawana Tucker ( Jackson), Past State Presidents; Dr. Sonya Fuqua ( Jackson), Ms. Cheryl Rainey & Mrs. Barbara Fields (Tupelo ).

Special thanks to our Education Committee Chair Kiyo Holmes and Co-Chair Dr. RyAnne Williams for facilitating a great training session. Dr. Willams, thank you for being tech savy and getting the AV system in place and running. Kudo!👏🏽👏🏽💯🎤

D2 participated in the Juneteenth Fest and fellowship with the First Family of the City of Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons & his lovely family. The organization provided educational handouts on Depression in the Black Male in support of Men’s Mental Health Month. in collaboration with HMI partnership. Members in attendance included Audrey Landrum, Project Chair, Dr. LaWanda Harris, Evelyn Sherdon and Jennifer Neal. The weather was ideal for a perfect festival celebrating the liberation of the ancestors chained in slavery.

D2 members participated in the WWISCAA’s Wisdom & Wellness Expo on May 29, 2026 in celebration of Older American Month at the Washington County Convention Center. An event packed with resources, health screenings, socialization for our senior
citizens. D2 members included Mazie Whalen, Quarletta Pinkney. Princella Pearson, Tosha Smith, Alexia Harris ,Margaret Williams,and Joyce Little.

The SHADS of Greenville & HMI held its first Annual Nurse Scholarship & Nurse Appreciation Fundraiser. D2 member Linda Anderson was the keynote speaker and delivered a dynamic message “Nursing as a Calling and Not Just A Professional. D2 members were recognized: Evelyn Sherdon, a chartered member and 1st Vice President in 1988; Mazie Whalen a chartered member and Norma Evans, a past president and treasurer.
