Today we had some good ol’ fashion Playdoh fun! They worked together to build a cheese and olive (eeew!) 🍕 ,they built a pizza oven out of blocks and legos to cook it, and then cut it and served it out (cheese pull included! 🤣)

Today we started our Food Group SEL series with The Bad Seed and built a catapult to finish up our simple machine unit.

Today was flexible Friday!

We took the day as it came and ebbed and flowed with everyone’s mood.🤪

🌎 We practiced finding countries on the map.
🔬 We looked at parts of grasshoppers under the microscope.
📖 We read some good books.
😀 We practiced identifying emotions by using facial expressions to wrap up our Little Spot of Emotion SEL series.
🐼 We entertained ourselves with the Panda Cam and narrated the momma and two babies!

Ended up being a pretty chill and enjoyable day!

What if the answer isn’t getting students to fit the mold, but creating a learning environment that fits them?

Because there is no one right way to learn—and school shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all.

Today we had fun creating super silly sentences and working on our parts of speech.

Did you see the old yellow elephant dance towards the ball? 🐘💃🏼🕺🏼⚽️

Or the striped fox climb up the baby? 🦊👶🏻
🤣🤣🤣🤣

We also took some time to compare the weight of items in the classroom using the balance scale. ⚖️

What if school could look different? 👀

Different pace.
Different approach.
More hands-on learning.
More room to grow.

At The Alternative Learning Environment, we believe students don’t have to fit into one way of learning.

Enrollment is open for 2026–2027, and spots are limited!

Could TALE be the right fit for your learner?

This morning we conquered some struggles with Math and Writing and then the afternoon was all about teamwork.

The students worked together to build different structures out of Zoobs and then tried their luck at creating pulleys again.

They were able to test out some creative theories, see how much weight they could lift, and improve their builds with each other’s help!

Today was a busy day!

We did lots of work this morning so we could put our knowledge of the Scientific Method to the test.

🔍 We observed skittles (the example is M&Ms)

❓ Questioned what happens to skittles when left in water.

✏️ Hypothesized that skittles would lose their color when left in water.

🧫We experimented to see what we could learn and if we were right.

📈 Discussed the results to see if we were right.

🥼 Concluded that skittles DO lose their color and their ‘S’ the longer they stay in water.

Our new question is: Why do the darker colors take longer than the lighter colors?
