Witches are stirring, potions are brewing, and butter is…growing? This odd mushroom is a type of jelly fungus known as Tremella mesenterica or "Witches Butter", coveted by witches and warlocks alike for its use in spells and hexes. According to European legend, if this mushroom was found growing on someone's gate or door, it meant that its inhabitants had been cursed. They said that the only way to break the curse was to stab the mushroom repeatedly with a straight pin until its insides bled out. The Swedish, however, took a different approach. They believed that the Witch's butter had mystical properties and when burned would ward off hexes and bad spirits. This belief made these mushrooms highly sought after as a tool to combat evil. So be on the look out this Halloween before it finds you! 🎃🍄
