Choosing massage lotion offers significant advantages for both the therapist's technique and the clinic's bottom line. From a practical standpoint, lotions are less prone to spills and are much easier on linens, drastically improving sheet longevity by washing out more cleanly than oils. During treatment, the unique "grip" of a lotion base provides the necessary traction for a therapist to perform deep, specific work without their hands sliding off the target muscle, while the application itself provides a gentle mechanical exfoliation that leaves the skin feeling renewed. Furthermore, the water-based nature of lotion makes it an ideal vehicle to suspend potent, water-soluble vitamins like B5, aloe vera, and herbal extracts such as Arnica. These ingredients are absorbed quickly into the epidermis, hydrating the skin and leaving it soft rather than greasy, so clients can dress immediately after their session without the dreaded "oil-spot" fear.

Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO): This is regular coconut oil that has been "fractionated" (heated and cooled) to remove the Lauric Acid. What’s left are the medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). This keeps the oil in a permanent liquid state.
-Washes out easily, whereas regular coconut oil can leave yellow "oil spots" and a rancid smell over time.
- Provides a "dry glide" that allows you to move the skin without the heavy friction of thicker oils or the slipperiness that might lead to bruising.
- Allergies/Sensitivities: Because it is highly refined and odorless, it is extremely rare for a patient to have a reaction to FCO. It doesn't compete with any other scents in the room.
-Its thinness allows for the light "skin-to-skin" traction needed.

Coconut Oil (Virgin/Unrefined): Contains Lauric Acid, a long-chain fatty acid. This is what makes the oil turn into a solid "butter" at room temperature (below 76°F).
-Slower absorption; can leave a residue.
-Usually 12–18 months it can go rancid.
-Thick, buttery, and greasy.
-Too much glide.
