🇺🇸 “Gay Boston 1984, I had just came back from living in Paris. I got an apartment above a gay bar in the south end of Boston called the "Eagle" - kinda like a leather bar where Queens wore chaps and traded receipts for peach cobbler. My BFF at the time and favorite muse was this gorgeous boy, Greg Lagos. He was a bad boy, prankster and loved to stir it up. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with HIV and died of AIDS before he was 30 years old. RIP Greg.“ 📖📸 by Jason Byron Gavann

For too long, progress made against HIV has largely benefited white people in the U.S. Today, nearly 3/4 of new HIV transmissions occur among racial & ethnic minorities despite making up 2/5 of the population. These racial disparities in new HIV transmissions reflect a chronic underinvestment in the health and well-being of Black and Brown communities that must be rectified if we are ever going to end the HIV epidemic.

And yet the recently released Fiscal Year 2024 House Labor, Health & Human Services spending bill is proposing a staggering $150 million in cuts to Minority AIDS Initiative programs.

Tell Congress this is unacceptable! Tell your member of Congress to fully fund Minority AIDS Initiative programs.

SAC is proud to announce Jasmine Tasaki as this year's recipient of the Founder's Award. This award is presented to a member of the southern Black LGBTQ+ community who embodies the spirit of SOS Founder, Marvell L. Terry, II. The recipient is a visionary, trusted leader, and unapologetically elevates and amplifies their community through service and leadership. We hope you'll join us at the SOS 2023 Gala on Saturday, August 5 to honor Jasmine Tasaki for her commitment to our community.
