Mineral interrelationships. Just one example. Look at Calcium specifically and notice the relationship to Phosphorus. Excess of either will cause deficiency in the others utilization. Most forages, particularly grass fed (main diet for cattle) is HIGH in Calcium and LOW in Phosphorus. Hence, a 12x12 mineral is no longer a balance creating a higher need for Phosphorus. A mix of mineral forces consumption of both when only one may be required for a balance. Individual vitamins and minerals avoid the effects of force feeding and allow the animal to balance it's vitamin and mineral ration.

Phosphorus effect of deficiency -
1. Depraved appetite
2. No heat period, delayed heat period, prolonged interval between calving.
