May is Mental Health Awareness Month
— and some of the statistics surrounding mental health may surprise you. 💚
• Su***de is one of the leading causes of death in the United States.
• Men die by su***de more often, but women attempt su***de at higher rates.
• Many people struggling with depression still go to work, laugh, socialize, and appear “completely fine.”
• Hormonal changes, chronic stress, trauma, inflammation, poor sleep, and loneliness can all significantly impact mental health.
• The people who seem the strongest are often the ones suffering in silence the longest.
That’s why awareness matters.
That’s why conversations matter.
That’s why She Was Sunshine exists. ☀️
Because sometimes the woman everyone depends on…
the one making jokes, showing up, helping others, and smiling in every photo…
is quietly drowning underneath the weight of what no one else can see.
This month, check on your people.
Especially the ones who “seem okay.”
Especially the ones who never ask for help.
A simple conversation, a text, a hug, or feeling truly seen can matter more than you realize.
And if you are struggling right now:
You are not weak.
You are not failing.
You are not alone.
There is help, there is hope, and there are people who want you here. 💚
