For today's Rooted Sunday let’s talk about your lymphatic system because this is something I talk about almost every single day in the shop. A lot of people feel stuck and don’t even realize their lymph system may be part of the reason.
So what even is the lymph system?
It is your body’s drainage system and cleanup crew. Your lymph system is all through your body. Think of it like little drainage pathways and filtering stations running underneath the skin and around your organs. You have larger groups of lymph nodes in the neck, under the arms, chest, abdomen, groin, and behind the knees. That is where we sometimes notice pain and swelling in our body.
Your heart has the power to pump blood around your body. Your lymph system doesn’t have a pump. It depends on you moving your body to keep things flowing.
The lymph system helps move waste, fluid, toxins, old cells, bacteria, and other debris out of tissues so the body can process and eliminate them. It also plays a huge role in your immune system.
When lymph gets sluggish, people can sometimes feel puffy, swollen, sore, stiff, foggy, congested, and tired for no reason.
Modern life does not help with sitting more, stress, processed foods, dehydration, poor sleep, shallow breathing, tight muscles, and not sweating enough.
The good news? You do not need a crazy expensive wellness routine to support it.
Simple things help to move lymph naturally. Things like walking, rebounding and trampoline, stretching, deep breathing, ion foot detox, sweating, dry brushing, staying hydrated with minerals and electrolytes, red light therapy with near infrared, massage, castor oil packs, daily movement , and getting enough protein.
Movement is medicine for the lymph system. Your body was designed to heal and move things out. Sometimes it just needs support, nourishment, hydration, and movement to do its job better.
Pick one thing today and try it.
Let’s start this week strong. 💪🏻
