🐾 A town in California has been electing dogs as mayor for years.

Houlton is still looking for a Town Manager.

Just saying… my rĆ©sumĆ© includes therapy work, reading programs, community outreach, and never missing a chance to greet residents.

Rex for Town Manager. Because every town deserves a leader who comes when called.

šŸ“ø Rex’s Report from Home

Mom abandoned me.

Okay, okay… she says she’s at a Rotary conference, but I think that’s just a fancy way of saying she’s spending the weekend somewhere without me.

The good news? Nanny has been on a mission to make sure Mom doesn’t miss me too much. Every few hours there’s another photo shoot.

ā€œLook handsome, Rex.ā€

ā€œTurn your head, Rex.ā€

ā€œSmile, Rex.ā€

I don’t want to brag, but I think I’m handling it like a professional model. As you can see, I’ve been posing in my jungle lounge, supervising the houseplants, and making sure everyone remembers who the real star of this family is.

Mom keeps getting picture updates, and from what I hear, they’re working. She says she misses me. I think she should probably come home soon just to be safe.

Until then, I’ll continue my important duties: posing, napping, and accepting treats in exchange for photos.

Mom: ā€œRex… what did you DO to make Blue and Aspen this mad at you?ā€

Me: ā€œI honestly don’t know. One minute I was minding my business… the next minute it turned into an episode of Real Housewives of Houlton.ā€

I MAY have:
• walked too close to them
• looked at them wrong
• breathed too loudly
• or committed the unforgivable crime of existing in their general vicinity

At this point I’m just trying to survive the allegations. 🐾

Whew… three whole first grade classes in ONE day. 🐾😓

Mom read Rex and the Day He Didn’t Feel Brave to all of them while I supervised very importantly… by accepting pets, showing off my different eyes, and making new friends.

Some of the students asked the funniest questions today:
ā€œIs the book real?ā€
ā€œIs Rex real?ā€
Excuse me… I am clearly real. Although at this point I may actually be turning into a sleepy stuffed animal. 😓🐶

I also got questions about my different eyes, whether I like belly rubs (obviously), and if I’m brave now. The answer is yes… most of the time. But the best part of our story is learning that everyone feels nervous sometimes — even therapy dogs. šŸ’™

Thank you to all the amazing first graders who listened so well, asked thoughtful questions, and gave me so many smiles today.

Now if you’ll excuse me… one eye is already asleep and the other one is trying its best to hang on. šŸ’¤

Hi friends, Rex here 🐾

Today might have been one of my favorite days ever. I got a whole stack of cards from a first grade class… and guess what?! They drew ME. Like… a LOT of me. I didn’t know I was such a big deal.

Some of you asked really important questions like:
ā€œRex, what’s your favorite treat?ā€ (easy—all of them)
ā€œDo you like belly rubs?ā€ (obviously yes, please form a line)
and ā€œHow are you so brave?ā€ (I try my best… especially when I’m with kind humans like you šŸ’™)

But my very favorite part?
All the ā€œI love youā€ notes. I felt every single one.

Mom read them all to me (you can see in the video… I was listening very carefully… in between tail wags).

Thank you for making me feel so special today. I think you’re all pretty amazing too.

Sending big paw hugs back to each and every one of you šŸ¾šŸ’›
Love,
Rex

P.S. If you ever need a reading buddy, I’m your guy.

Awww schucks.

Herding cats is a full-time job… and honestly, I deserve a raise.

Step 1: Convince them the crate was their idea.
Step 2: Secure the perimeter.
Step 3: Do not. move. a. muscle.

Mission accomplished. Both suspects contained. I’ve taken up my post out front—part guard dog, part doorstop—just in case they get any funny ideas.

It’s exhausting being this good at my job, but someone’s gotta keep the chaos in check. 🐾

🐾 Hi friends, Rex here! 🐾

Big day for this good boy… I’m at Southern Aroostook Community School for Career Day! šŸŽ“šŸ¶

Today we’re talking about something REALLY exciting… being an author! šŸ“šāœØ
(Which is funny because I’m pretty sure I’m the star of the books… but I let mom, Johanna Jo Johnston, do the writing šŸ˜Ž)

I’ve got my vest on, my tail is ready, and I’m prepared to meet lots of new friends, share my story, and of course… collect as many pets as possible (very important part of the job).

We haven’t started yet, but I can already tell it’s going to be a pawsome day šŸ¾šŸ’›

Stay tuned… I’ll report back after my big presentation!

Love,

🐾 Rex here… and I’ve got BIG news! 🐾

My second book is officially LIVE on Amazon! šŸŽ‰

It’s called Rex and the Two Different Eyes—and it’s a story that’s really close to my heart (and my face… obviously šŸ˜„).

You see, I’ve always had one blue eye and one brown eye. Most days, I don’t think much about it… but sometimes others do.

This story is about learning that the things that make us different might just be the most special parts of who we are.

If you loved my first adventure, I think you’re going to love this one too. And if you’re new here—hi! I’m Rex. I help kids learn big life lessons… and I accept belly rubs as payment. šŸ¶šŸ’™

šŸ“š You can grab your copy here: https://a.co/d/0fc5XFr2

And if my story makes its way into your home or classroom, I’d LOVE to see it—tag us, share a pic, or tell me where I’ve traveled! šŸŒŽ

Because every kid deserves to feel seen… just the way they are.

Oh. My. PAWS. šŸ¾šŸ“š

Guess what?!

My book made it all the way to a Pre-K classroom in New Jersey this week!!

That’s right… little readers I’ve never even sniffed before are hearing my story. I’m picturing tiny voices, wiggly carpet time, and maybe even a few giggles at my brave (and not-so-brave) moments.

From our home to a classroom miles away… that feels pretty dog-gone special. šŸ¶šŸ’›

If YOU share my story in your classroom, library, or at bedtime…
please tag us, post a picture, or send a note so we can see how far my paws have traveled and who’s loving the adventure.

Are you Team Brave today?
Because even when I don’t feel brave… I still try.

Love,
Rex 🐾✨
