Anxiety after 35 may be influenced by more than just stress alone. Hormone shifts can affect sleep, cortisol, nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and overall mental wellbeing. Many women notice worsening anxiety, waking up at 3am, racing thoughts, irritability, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed during this stage of life.

Mental health and hormones are more connected than most people realize.

Taking an antidepressant doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means you’re taking care of your health. 🤍
Whether it’s Lexapro, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, or something else — the medication is just a tool. Choosing to use it is strength, not weakness.

The people we love show us things mirrors can’t. 🪞
Not because they’re trying to. Because love — at its closest — reflects.
If your partner brings out parts of you that surprise you, listen. The reflection is information.

The week before your period shouldn’t feel like a different person takes over your body. 👇🏽
If you’ve been on PMDD TikTok lately, you’ve heard the buzz about Pepcid and antihistamines. And yes — the histamine-estrogen connection is real science. Estrogen triggers mast cells to release histamine and blocks the enzyme that clears it. That’s part of why your luteal phase can feel like anxiety, insomnia, and rage all at once.
But here’s what’s missing from the conversation:
✨ 90% of your serotonin is made in your gut
✨ Acid-blocking meds shift your microbiome in ways that can last for years
✨ Your gut produces the GABA, SCFAs, and signals that calm your nervous system
Symptom relief is valuable. It’s also not the same as a root-cause plan. You deserve both.
PMDD lives at the intersection of hormones, the nervous system, AND the gut. As a nurse practitioner trained in HRT and mental health, I look at all three.
💛 Save this for your next luteal week
💛 Share with a friend who needs to hear it
💛 DM me if you’re ready to dig into your own picture

A reminder for the start of the week 👇
If Monday already feels heavy — you’re not behind. You’re human.
I see how much pressure people carry into a new week: the unfinished from last week, the worry about the next, the quiet feeling that they should already be further along.
So here’s what I offer my patients (and myself):
Pick ONE thing that matters this week. Not five. Not your whole list. One.
Let ONE thing go — the guilt, the comparison, the task that doesn’t actually need you.
Check in on ONE person. Connection regulates the nervous system in ways no productivity hack can.
That’s it.
Be gentle with yourself this week. 🤍

Waking up at 3AM isn’t always anxiety.

It can be your body signaling something deeper—
hormones, cortisol patterns, blood sugar, or even learned sleep disruption.

Sleep is not just mental. It’s mind, body, and physiology.

🧠You’re not overthinking—your nervous system is overwhelmed.

When your body is in stress mode, your brain is wired to react, not think clearly.

Slowing your breath (in 3, out 6) helps activate your
parasympathetic nervous system
—this is what tells your body you’re safe. Pause first. Then respond.

🔹 Morning testosterone facts:
Testosterone peaks in the morning for men (and to a smaller extent in women). This surge often boosts confidence, motivation, and assertiveness 💪—but it can also make men less open to favors or tough conversations first thing in the day ⏰.

Your hormones shape more than just health—they shape how you move through the day. 🧬✨
