New•Tea•Blend•Alert : Fall Embers 🍂 & Cherry Bomb 🍒💣

I put a lot of thought and research into creating new tea blends, which is why there’s such a long break in between debuts. In the lab now is Fall Embers and Cherry Bomb.

Fall Embers is warmth and comfort with Keemun Black Tea, persimmon, ginger and a touch of allspice.

Cherry Bomb as a beautiful, deep, velvet mouthfeel as a result of a delicate balance of flavors from Keemun Black Tea, cherry and black figs. This would be one of my top choices to for the Tea Flight Tasting Bundle or any of the gift.

I’ll be adding the whopping seven (7) new blends to the store this month!

In the lab now is Fall Embers. It has a delicate flavor profile with Keemun Black Tea, cinnamon, vanilla, peach and persimmon. This is great hot or as an iced tea. This would be one of my top choices to for the Tea Flight Tasting Bundle or any of the gift.

It’s Earth Day and National Tea Day! As an herbalist and a tea connoisseur it’s a great day for me to celebrate what Earth gives, how I can give back to with planting and sustaining life and enjoying a good brew!

My asthma has been attempting to act a donkey and I will have no parts of it! Off to the apothecary to make a variation of bush tea! Mine contains:

Orange peel and fruit - high in antioxidants and vitamin c
Red onion - antibacterial, high in antioxidants and vitamin c
Cloves - immune boosting and high in antioxidants
Bay leaves - antibacterial, high in antioxidants and vitamin c
Star Anise - antiviral
Ginger - anti-inflammatory antiviral, antibacterial, anti-fungal, high in antioxidants, immune boosting and warming
Cinnamon - antiviral, antibacterial & anti-fungal
Wild Cherry Bark - sedative, expectorant, drying and cough suppressant

After a few hours of simmering on the stove, I’ll add organic, local honey and sip on it for the rest of the evening. 😉

After almost a year going by since I originally filed my application, I officially have my trademark for Slick Talker®️Tea! This is a beautiful next step after having my business certified as Black owned!

To date Slick Talker®️is one of my favorite blends and my voiceover peeps clamor for it, with its proprietary blend of marshmallow, calendula, slippery elm, cinnamon and other herbs. I’m one happy business owner!

|Smells • Like • Christmas 🎄 |

When your friend mentions offhandedly that she read an article about fermented cranberry honey and would love to try it… babe, I got you!

Fermentation is a beautiful process that utilizes an organism to breakdown carbohydrates, such as starch or a sugar, into an alcohol or an acid. With honey, being the glorious thing that it is, in its natural state is a preservative and repels spoilage organisms by depriving them of the water they need to proliferate. But when you add just enough orange juice it kicks off the fermentation process. There’s a really simple recipe on that you can use and tweak to your liking. I used the same base recipe but added more fresh ginger, cloves and two Cassia cinnamon sticks.

After a few weeks of burping and fermenting in the pantry, the thinned honey will be a beautiful red color and ready to use in dressings, as a glaze for roasts, in tea or whatever draws your fancy. Lucky for me I had enough fresh cranberries to make a jar for myself. 😉

|HAPPY • ANNIVERSARY 🥳|

Exactly two years ago yesterday I officially launched Tonics & Teas by T! As I contemplate everything that has happened in a short 12 months, I am humbled and immensely grateful for the love and support of family, friends and my customers!

As a small business owner, it’s rough in these entrepreneurial streets, but I wouldn’t trade a moment of my journey this far. I started with 4-5 tea blends and now I offer 17 unique blends, custom mugs, tea sets and other tea accessories. You can even sign up for quarterly subscription boxes just in time for holiday gifting! Details to follow in a separate post)

All in all, COVID-19 not withstanding, it’s been a great year!

|Heavenly • Coffee • Goodness☕️|

I have always been a coffee lover, the darker the roast the better. While coffee isn’t an herb, it does have some helpful properties as a vasodilator.

I made the cold brew yesterday which sat the fridge overnight. I then made a simple syrup of coconut palm sugar and brown sugar and added it to the cold brew along with Madagascar vanilla beans and . It’ll be ready in 3 days but I’m going to let it mature a bit longer than that.

If you are so inclined, you too can make your own infused honeys, extracts, liqueurs and tinctures! and have great resources to get you started!

|Herbal • Healing • Goodness🌿|

Being in the apothecary is as much about knowledge and experimentation as it is healing. As Fall is on the way, I got back in the apothecary and began my newest infused honey and two newcomers to the lineup, vanilla extract and a coffee liqueur.

I’m infusing raw, unfiltered honey with cardamom and Madagascar vanilla beans.

My vanilla extract is using bourbon whiskey and Madagascar vanilla beans and will extract for approx 4-6 months. It’s a looong time but it will be well worth it!

Tomorrow I’ll finish the coffee liqueur, as the cold brew needs to sit in the fridge for at least 12 hours before I add the simple syrup, vanilla bean and .

They are available in multiple colors so you can pick your favorite!
