You can prepare for the procedure down to the smallest detail… and still feel completely unprepared once you get home.
Because recovery means managing a lot at once — swelling, bruising, compression, medications, drains, hydration, movement, and follow-ups — while your body is already doing the work of healing.

You don’t have to know everything on Day 1. 💜
But knowing what to expect, what to watch, and when something deserves a call to your surgeon can make recovery feel much less overwhelming.
We created our Post-Op resources to help you feel more informed throughout the process.

I’m incredibly grateful to have been honored with the Healthcare Excellence Award by Nixon Home Care / Nixon Senior Estates last weekend.

To be recognized alongside other healthcare professionals who are committed to serving, supporting, and caring for others is truly meaningful.

Thank you so much to Nixon Home Care and Nixon Senior Estates for the recognition, for creating space to celebrate healthcare excellence, and for the work you continue to do in the community.

Every opportunity to educate, advocate, serve, and help others feel more supported is a reminder of why this work matters so much.

I’m grateful for the journey, grateful for the people I get to serve, and grateful for every door God continues to open. 💜

To God be the glory.

Your compression garment should help support your lymphatic health — not make things harder. 💜

If it’s rolling, leaving deep pressure marks, feeling suddenly tighter, losing elasticity, or just not controlling your swelling like it used to, it may be time to pay closer attention.

A good fit matters. A healthy garment matters. And your comfort matters too.

Lymphedema is often misunderstood — and that can make it harder to know when swelling needs a closer look.

It isn’t simply weight gain, ordinary fluid retention, or the same thing as venous swelling. Lymphedema happens when the lymphatic system is damaged or not working properly, causing protein-rich fluid to build up in the tissues.

If you’ve noticed persistent swelling, heaviness, tightness, changes in skin texture, or clothing and jewelry fitting differently than usual, those changes are worth paying attention to.

Maybe you don’t need to do more. Maybe you need to slow down and let God get the order right. 💜

Receive. Worship. Rest. Then work.

What would change if you stopped trying to do everything from an empty place?

Swelling that doesn’t go away isn’t just ‘water retention’ — your body may be trying to tell you something. 💜

Here are 5 signs of lymphedema you shouldn’t ignore. If any of these sound familiar, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

Save this for later, and drop a 💜 if you learned something new. This video features an AI avatar sharing Q’s words and trusted nurse-led education.

Understanding your body starts with understanding the facts. 💜

Lipedema is a chronic medical condition that is often misunderstood or mistaken for other conditions. For many people, getting the right diagnosis can take years—and that journey can feel frustrating and isolating.
Remember, this post is for education—not diagnosis. If these symptoms sound familiar, consider speaking with a qualified healthcare professional about your concerns.
At Nurse on the Geaux, we believe that knowledge is one of the most powerful tools you can have when advocating for your health.

Your at-home lymphedema routine can start with just 5 minutes. 💜

No equipment. No complicated setup. Just a gentle self-MLD routine you can do each morning before putting on your compression garment.

For many people living with lymphedema, consistent daily care between visits with a certified lymphedema therapist is an important part of supporting their lymphatic health.
