What even is MCAS, and why does no one seem to understand it?

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) happens when your mast cells, the immune cells that are supposed to protect you, start overreacting to everything.

Most people don’t recognize histamine as the thing running their symptoms because histamine doesn’t feel the way they’ve been told it should.

They’re looking for hives and sneezing.

What they’re actually experiencing is a nervous system that can’t settle, a mind that races at night, skin that flares unpredictably, and a gut that reacts to things that used to be fine.

In the adrenal system, histamine triggers adrenaline release, which is why mast cell reactions can feel indistinguishable from panic attacks. In the gut, mast cell activation disrupts the lining and motility. On the skin, flushing and itching show up when clearance has already been overwhelmed for a while.

Most approaches target the food list. That helps some people short-term, but avoidance doesn’t fix clearance. If your DAO enzyme is impaired, your estrogen is high, your gut lining is compromised, or your nervous system is dysregulated, histamine keeps building regardless of how restricted your diet is.

The practical starting point: support DAO directly with B6, copper, and vitamin C. Address estrogen dominance if your symptoms track with your cycle. Work on vagal tone to calm mast cell reactivity at the source, because when your nervous system signals safety, mast cells don’t fire as easily.

Bile is one of the most overlooked pieces in mast cell regulation. Not because it’s trendy.

But because it’s quiet. When bile slows, nothing dramatic happens at first. You just start reacting to more things.

Here’s what bile actually does in real life terms.

It’s how your body takes histamine, excess estrogen, inflammatory byproducts, and fat-soluble toxins and moves them out. Not neutralizes them. Not “balances” them.

If SIBO were just a bacteria problem, you’d be done by now.

Are there opportunities you’ve missed because you let fear hold you back? 😱

I think about this often as it relates to Amare. We’ve had so many people get started, and yet so many who haven’t yet. Often, they don’t start because of fear.

We are visiting friends this week in Florida. They said “yes” to giving Amare a try shortly after we got started. They’re earning a nice income well into four figures each month after four months.
