For me, a metallic marker has one job — it needs to look metallic. 😅

I bought these 12 GuangNa metallic markers by YUANCHENG because I love a good bargain. At $6.98, this looked like one.

So I tested them. Different papers. Freshly applied. Completely dry. And another metallic marker for comparison.

My decision? 3 stars, and I’m returning them.

Not because they’re universally “bad.” They simply don’t do what I bought them to do.

And even this becomes a Creative Rep: observe what is actually in front of me, recognize what I need, make a decision, and practice trusting it.

What happens when something isn’t necessarily good or bad — it’s simply not what you expected or needed? Do you keep it, or trust your decision to let it go?

What pushes your buttons?

A Creative Rep is so much more than just drawing, painting, sewing, or making something.

It is meant to be applied right in the middle of an ordinary day.

Something pushed my buttons at the supermarket. I noticed it. I experienced the irritation. I decided what I wanted to do with it—and then I kept moving.

And a few aisles later… flowers. 🌸

Emotional fitness isn’t about avoiding irritation, frustration, joy, delight, or any other emotion. It’s about expanding the capacity to experience it all without getting stuck in any one experience—and choosing what I want to do next.

Because the capacities we practice while creating are not designed to stay at the creative table. We get to carry them into everyday life.

That’s when a Creative Rep becomes a life rep. 🔁

The wonkiest soccer ball you’ll see today. ⚽🎨

I thought this Creative Rep was finished.

It’s fascinating how something can be right in front of you, and you still don’t see it… until you do.

That’s one of the reasons I love Creative Reps. They strengthen emotional fitness in the smallest, most unexpected moments.

This Creative Rep started with abstract lines. When I finished, I decided to add metallic watercolor because I wanted to see what would happen next.

One sketchbook page. One Creative Rep. Every line was a decision I had to trust.

Every new choice became another opportunity to practice self-trust—not because I knew the outcome, but because I knew I could respond to whatever came next.

I don’t need to have an idea before I sit down to create.

I sit down because I’ve chosen to build the habit of showing up.

That’s what a Creative Rep is for me.

Every creative practice becomes a life practice, strengthening emotional fitness one decision at a time.

We often believe change happens through dramatic moments.

In my experience, it happens through small moments repeated over time.

It’s choosing one color.
Making one stitch.
Cutting one piece of paper.
Testing one idea without needing a specific outcome.

Tiny creative moments don’t just create something beautiful.

They quietly shape the person creating them.

That’s why I believe creative practice shapes us far more than the art we create.

Some art doesn’t ask for attention.

It simply stops you.

That was my experience when I came across Jessa’s work at the Markets For Makers event at POST Houston

I loved her work so much that one of her pieces came home with me. 💛

One of my favorite parts of creativity is noticing someone else’s expression… and letting it expand our own.

A handmade card doesn’t have to look perfect to carry love.

This one was inspired by a volunteer friend who told me she celebrated her 40th anniversary.

Something about that number stayed with me, so I let it become a creative practice: paper, line, color, attention, intention.

Not a perfect card.
A handmade one.

Sometimes the most meaningful gift is not the object itself.
It’s the time.
The attention.
The thought.
The energy we place into making something for someone else.
