Have you tried getting your over active child tested for ?

Knowing is half the battle. Understanding why and using tools make up the second half.

Let's discuss some of the tools that don't involve medication in the comments.

Tired of yelling at your kid with ? Next time try this...

Write the rules and the consequences on paper and post them where they can see them.

Sometimes children with ADHD need to visually see the cause and effect to help them regulate their behavior.

After you try this, tell me how it worked out!

Many of us parents of children with struggle with their persistence in interrupting to attend to their needs. I used to struggle with this until one day I decided to set clear boundaries for my son. This has taught him more patience and to respect boundaries.

Do you struggle with this? If your child insists on your attention, do you stop what you're doing to give it to them? It doesn't make you a bad parent if you teach them how to be patient. Thoughts? đŸ€”

For those who medicate their kids with how did you choose between stimulant vs non-stimulant?

I read in a group "A child’s behavior is often worst with the person they feel the safest with."

I have a slight disagreement with this...

Yes, they fall apart with us—because they feel safe.

But feeling safe doesn’t mean we let chaos go unchecked. It means we guide them through it.

As moms, it’s easy to confuse love with over-accommodation.

But when a child screams, bolts, or lashes out, giving in can accidentally reward the behavior.

Sometimes the most loving thing we can do
 is not react.

Not everything is a crisis. Sometimes it’s a pattern. And when we stop feeding the cycle, they learn to self-regulate.

So yes, you’re their safe space, but you’re also their teacher.

Let’s talk: What’s something you’ve learned to respond to differently than before?

The other day I was talking to a close friend about her 10-year-old son.
She was venting, saying how tired she was of repeating herself, how he couldn’t sit still for anything, and how the constant bouncing-off-the-walls energy was starting to wear her down.

She kept saying, "But he's just being a boy, right?"

And as a mom, I get it.
We don’t want to overthink it. We don’t want our babies labeled.
But I gently asked a few questions... about school, sleep, meltdowns, transitions, and the more she shared, the more it clicked.

He wasn’t just full of energy.
He was struggling.

Long story short... we got him evaluated.
And when she called me after the appointment, she literally said:
"I feel like I finally see him clearly for the first time. Everything makes sense now."

It’s not about labeling, it’s about understanding.
And sometimes, that one honest conversation can change everything.

Have you ever dealt with your child in fear of being in the next room alone?

Backstory: My son is 6 and for the past few years we've been noticing that he fears being in a room alone (even in the daytime!)

He will follow you from room to room and won't stay in his room by himself if you leave the room.

At night it's worse. Even with all of the lights in the house on and I'm in the next room he's in fear.

Do you think this attachment need is associated with his ADHD?

Did you know that for many kids with ADHD, analog clocks can actually help them transition between tasks more smoothly?

Unlike digital clocks, analog faces give a visual sense of time passing. This helps children see when a task is coming to an end, so transitions feel less sudden and more predictable.

Great for transitioning out of screen time or into homework or chore time.

⏳ That little hand creeping toward the next hour? It teaches pacing, awareness, and emotional prep for "what’s next."

Have you ever tried this with your child? Did it make a difference? Let’s talk about it.
