The SGSC develops and promotes the use of standards and guidelines for birth defects surveillance programs in the US and increases the quality of that data. Some tasks include exploring, developing, and enhancing technical tools to facilitate surveillance, addressing questions and/or exploring issues with coding/coding systems, and developing, implementing, and evaluating data quality and data utilization standards.
