After a long day, sometimes it’s the simple things that hit just right.

Tonight’s cup is nettle, hibiscus, lemon balm and mint with a squeeze of fresh orange. A refreshing blend to hydrate, enjoy a little plant goodness, and slow down for a minute.

Plus it’s pink and purdy😉

What’s in your cup tonight?

A little homemade goodness for my Marzi Girl.

I’ve been busy in the kitchen making homemade dog food with beef, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, spinach, brown rice, and homemade chicken bone stock.

I love knowing exactly what ingredients go into the things we feed our family, and that includes our fur babies!

Simple ingredients, a little time in the kitchen, and lots of love.

Because healthy choices aren’t just for us. Our pets deserve a little extra love, too!

No worries I rotate out ingredients frequently to ensure she’s getting all her nutrients.

Happy Sunday friends.

I needed to just take a day to stop and breathe.

To slow down, enjoy life, and remember God’s promises.

I spent a few hours in the woods, exploring, foraging, and just embracing fellowship with Jesus. There’s something about being surrounded by His creation that quiets the noise and reminds me that He is still in control.

I visited my friend and frequented a few of my favorite local shops —Amish stores, Chosen & Created Co., On The Banks Apothecary, Saenz Greenhouse's and Produce Growers and a few other places that always feel a little like home.

Sometimes we need to stop trying to do everything and simply breathe.

To look around.

To notice the beauty.

To remember who we belong to.

God has been faithful through every season, and today I just needed to slow down long enough to remember that.

The air is getting cooler, but the woods don’t take a break with the change of seasons. It simply shifts gears.

God’s design is intentional.

The plants that were growing and blooming all summer are now preparing for what’s next. Some are putting their medicine down into their roots. Others are producing berries and seeds before the cold settles in.

And just like the plants, we are made to adapt and trust Him through our own season changes in life.

This is the time to be digging roots like dandelion, burdock, chicory and echinacea, and gathering rose hips, hawthorn, sumac, nettle seed, goldenrod, yarrow, mullein and pearly everlasting.

I love this time of year because even when everything looks like it’s dying back, there is still so much life and medicine being prepared.

God thought of it all.

Time to get outside and see what you can find.

Today was my day off… and of course I had a whole list of things I thought I should get done.

I do the same thing in life—put all these expectations on myself instead of simply trusting God with the day.

So today I’m reminding myself: be faithful with what’s in front of me and let God handle the rest.

And what’s in front of me today? TOMATOES!

Easy Stewed Tomatoes for Water-Bath Canning

Peel, core and chop about 7–8 lbs ripe tomatoes.
Add 1½ cups chopped onion, ½ cup chopped celery, 1/2 cup Green Pepper, 1 tsp salt and ½ tsp pepper.
Add your favorite herbs if you like—I love basil!

Simmer everything together about 10–15 minutes until softened.

For safe canning, add 2 Tbsp bottled lemon juice to each quart (1 Tbsp per pint). This acidification is important for water-bath canning tomatoes.

Ladle the hot tomatoes into hot jars, leaving ½-inch headspace. Remove bubbles, wipe rims and apply lids.

Water-bath:
Pints — 35 minutes
Quarts — 45 minutes
at 0–1,000 ft elevation. Adjust processing time for higher elevations.

Let them cool undisturbed, check the seals, label and tuck them away for winter.

A little work today… a blessing for later.

I’ve spent a lot of time the last few days purging and cleaning all the buildup EVERYWHERE from being outside the last few months.

It really made me feel accomplished and less stressed; that’s when it occurred to me that decluttering your house is kinda like decluttering your soul.

Sometimes you have to ask, “What am I holding onto that I don’t need anymore?”

Old things. Old habits. Old hurts. Old expectations.

Just like that closet we keep avoiding, our hearts can have clutter too.

Clear the clutter. Make room for peace. Make room for what God is doing next.

Sometimes we have to let go of what we’re holding before we can receive what God has for us. ❤️

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
— Psalm 51:10
