REFLECTING BACK AND LOOKING FORWARD……
Circle of Dance Repertory Company founded in 1982 celebrates thirty years bringing dance to the public as a source of entertainment, education and aesthetics. Our first performance in 1983 was created by Huntington's Vincent Orlando followed through the years with works by Tommie Gibbons, Ellie Gordon Lupo, Nancy Brier (company director from 1999 – 2006: an in
tegral part of the company’s growth. Ms Brier’s work was featured on a PBS special on current modern dance choreographers and companies), and Carl Paris (formerly of Alvin Ailey: part of Circle since 1999; brought another layer of professionalism and creative diversity to the group). The company has also performed works by choreographers: Susan Dodge (Dodge Dance), Diane McCarthy (Dance New Amsterdam), Jennifer Weaver (formerly of Stephen Petronio), Ben Munisteri (Ben Munisteri Dance Projects), Jahain Clark (Chalasa Dance Theater) Kataryzna Skarpetowska (Lar Lubovitch) and Robert Battle (artistic director of Alvin Ailey).Over the 30 years these choreographer’s works have been presented in theatres, festivals, and universities throughout the United States and Internationally in Italy and the Czech Republic. Over the past three years Circle has been fortunate to have Patricia Kenny Reilly (formerly of David Parsons) as artistic director. Patricia has choreographed many exciting works for Circle of Dance which have been widely acclaimed by our audiences. As we have looked back we now look forward. We are pleased to announce Patricia will be transitioning her creative talents to build "Patricia Kenny Dance Collection". We look forward to seeing new and exciting works by Patricia to be performed by her ensemble of talented dancers. Circle of Dance extends their wishes of success to this new venture and to keeping a special bond between the two companies. (You can follow Patricia Kenny Dance Collection on facebook.) Going forward Circle will be busy in the schools with our teaching artists conducting workshops and residencies in Queens and Long Island schools.
