The WVOHC has had a fantastic week sharing, connecting , and learning from several of our local and state partners including North Central West Virginia Community Action Head Start, Vandalia Health Network (thank you Amy Wood Kirk with Wellpoint for co-presenting), and the Mountains of Hope Cancer Coalition

As a reminder for both new members and friends, the WVOHC has multiple resources highlighting topics ranging from the call for legislation to assist individuals with oral health complications caused from cancer treatment, to strategies to help improve access to oral health care.

Resources shared this week with partners included the Beyond the Waiting Room Brief, the Meaningful Dentist Study, and our new Oral Health and Cancer Rights video (a special thank you to for their partnership on the video) all of which are found on our WVOHC RESOURCES page⭐️

A major milestone in advanced cancer care: WVU Medicine has completed its 250th transoral robotic surgery (TORS) case. 🎉

This minimally invasive, through-the-mouth approach helps treat head and neck tumors with greater precision, fewer complications, and faster recovery times. Since launching in 2017, the program has grown into one of the nation’s highest-volume head and neck robotic surgery programs.

Bringing leading-edge care close to home for patients across West Virginia and the surrounding region. 💛

Always an honor to recognize the many dedicated and talented dental hygienists here in WV!

Great quote from the American Dental Hygienists' Association “Dental Hygienist’s are the real life version of the tooth fairy, helping patients of every age to keep their smiles strong, healthy….”

🧚🦷 It's National Tooth Fairy Day! Dental hygienists are the real-life version, helping patients of every age keep their smiles strong, healthy, and something to celebrate. So thank the Tooth Fairy for all those dollar bills under the pillow and thank a hygienist for everything that comes after!

✨Fun fact: National Tooth Fairy Day is celebrated twice a year – just like the recommended number of oral health visits to your dental hygienist!

Cavities are the most common chronic childhood disease in the United States. The good news is that cavities are preventable! Children who brush daily with toothpaste will have fewer cavities.
