If today feels heavy,
this is your reminder to step outside and breathe.

A small walk won’t fix everything,
but it can give your mind and body a moment to reset.

And mama… if you need support, ask for it.

Milk supply is affected by more than just food and pumping schedules.

Stress, exhaustion, hydration, recovery, and emotional overwhelm can all play a role too.

This is your reminder that breastfeeding mothers need care and support too, not just advice.

A support group where mothers stop pretending.

Where you don’t have to arrive polished, patient, or holding it all together.
Where the truth can be spoken softly or not at all and still be understood.
Where your exhaustion doesn’t need justification and your feelings don’t need editing.

At Melamama Maternal Wellness, we hold space for the real parts.
The messy. The tender. The in-between.
The parts that don’t always make it into words but still deserve to be held.

People see the bottle.
The freezer stash.
The milk.

But they don’t always see the invisible work behind it.

The mental load.
The exhaustion.
The scheduling life around pumping sessions.
The effort it takes to keep showing up every single day.

Mama… those tiny drops?

That’s COLOSTRUM
Your baby’s first superfood.
Liquid gold, packed with immunity, nutrients, and gut protection.

It may look small…
but it’s everything your baby needs in those first days.

Your body has been preparing this for months.
Every drop counts. Every drop matters.

So if someone made you feel “not enough” because it’s just a few drops…
Stop.
Your body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to.

Save this for a mama who needs to hear it.

This month’s Mama Meet Up was everything I hoped it would be. Good food, mimosas, beautiful flowers, babies, laughter, breastfeeding support, and a community of women pouring into one another.
Watching mamas sit down, enjoy a warm meal, make their own flower bouquets, ask questions, share experiences, and simply breathe for a moment reminded me why this work matters so much.
Thank you to every mama who joined us and to Takiesha and Abena for helping make sure every mother felt seen, supported, and cared for.
Motherhood was never meant to be done alone. 🤎
See you at our next Mama Meet Up on June 1st! Thanks for capturing these moments for us. 😘

Some mothers haven’t had a real moment to themselves in months.
So today, we’re creating one.

A Melamama Mother’s Day special meet-up (a little late but deeply intentional), because motherhood deserves more than one day.

For those who have registered, this is your reminder to meet us at MelaMama today at 12 noon!
We’ll slow down, eat, create your own flower bouquet, and simply be present.

Come as you are. Babies are lovingly welcome.
We’ll meet you there!

Warming stored breastmilk safely is important for both nutrition and your baby’s comfort.

A few simple reminders:

✔ warm slowly using warm water
✔ gently swirl, don’t shake aggressively
✔ never microwave breastmilk
✔ test the temperature before feeding

Breastfeeding and pumping come with so much learning, and it’s okay if you’re figuring it out as you go.

Storing breastmilk can feel confusing at first.

How long is it safe?
Where should you keep it?
What if it’s already been used?

Here’s a simple guide to help you feel more confident with your breastmilk storage.

Remember:
✔ 4 hours at room temperature
✔ 4 days in the fridge
✔ up to 6 months in the freezer

And once baby drinks from it, use it within 2 hours.

You’re doing an incredible job caring for your baby
Every drop truly counts.

Happy Mother’s Day 🤎

Today, we celebrate every kind of mothering love.

To the mothers raising little ones with tired hands and full hearts.
To the mothers-to-be holding hope, love, and dreams for the future.
To the older sisters who became protectors, caregivers, and mother figures far too early. To the aunties who stepped in with nurturing love and became a second mother.
To the grandmothers, guardians, and women who continue to care for others in quiet, powerful ways.

Motherhood is not always defined by birth alone.
Sometimes, it is shown through presence, sacrifice, comfort, protection, and unconditional love.

This day is for every woman who has loved deeply and cared selflessly. 🤎

With love,
Melamama Maternal Wellness
