🤎 Happy Black Breastfeeding Week! 🤎

Here’s to honoring Black breastfeeding stories, uplifting Black families, and creating spaces where every Black parent feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their feeding goals.

We also recognize the community that makes breastfeeding possible. The breastfeeding consultants, lactation counselors, doulas, family, friends, and culturally affirming care providers who remind Black parents:

You don’t have to do this alone. 🤎

This week, we celebrate the parents, the babies, the villages, and the collective care that helps Black families thrive.

Kinda chic that you don’t have to prepare for birth alone 🤎.

Love Connections Through Birth is BACK—and this time, we’re creating space for expecting parents and the people they choose to walk alongside them.

Join IMBC October 24th & 25th for a couples-centered childbirth education experience focused on connection, confidence, and parent mental health by offering:

• Childbirth education you can experience together
• Conversations around parent mental health
• A couples stretch session
• Opportunities to connect with other expecting families
• Tools and resources to help you feel prepared for what’s ahead
• Community with people who understand the journey

And when we say *couples*, we mean it in every sense. Your support person can be your partner, friend, family member, or whoever you want by your side.

Because birth may be yours—but you shouldn't have to navigate the journey alone.

Birth can feel overwhelming, especially when you don’t know what to expect.

That’s one reason doula support matters.

A doula isn’t there to take over your birth, make decisions for you, or replace your partner.

We’re there to help you feel informed, supported, heard, and confident as you navigate one of the biggest experiences of your life.

Would you have a Doula? Did you hire a doula?

Today is the last day to register!

Birth is more than a clinical event, it’s an experience that can stay with someone for a lifetime. As birth workers, understanding how trauma impacts pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum helps us create spaces where families feel safe, respected, and empowered.

If you’re ready to deepen your care and expand your impact, this training is for you.

Registration closes tonight at 11pm!!
Don’t miss your chance to join us!

Breastfeeding takes support, too đź«‚.

August is "World Breastfeeding Month", a time to celebrate the families who choose to breastfeed and recognize the people, resources, and communities that help make that journey possible.

Breastfeeding can be beautiful—but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. From learning your baby’s cues to finding a comfortable position, navigating pumping, returning to work, managing challenges, or simply needing someone to say, “You’re doing a great job”—support matters.

And support can look like so many things:

▪︎ A knowledgeable birth or postpartum worker
▪︎ A lactation professional who listens without judgment
▪︎ A partner who protects your rest and makes space for feeding
▪︎ A family member or friend who lends a helping hand
▪︎ A community where you can ask questions and share your experiences
▪︎ Healthcare providers who respect your goals and help you make informed choices

This month, we’re celebrating breastfeeding, the people who make it possible, and the support systems that help families feel confident along the way.

Because no parent should feel like they have to navigate their feeding journey alone.

Learn about the breastfeeding support available in your community, share it with a new or expecting parent, and help us build communities where families are supported from pregnancy through postpartum and beyond.

Happy World Breastfeeding Month!

Birth trauma isn’t always defined by an emergency or a difficult medical outcome.

Sometimes it’s leaving your birth feeling unheard.
Feeling like things happened to you instead of with you.
Feeling scared, dismissed, or alone.

A healthy mom and healthy baby matter deeply but so does the emotional experience of birth.

This is one of the many reasons doulas exist.

We can’t promise a birth without unexpected turns or difficult moments. We can’t make medical decisions or prevent every intervention. What we can do is remain by your side, helping you feel informed, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

We hold your hand through contractions.
We remind you to breathe.
We encourage you to ask questions.
We help you understand your options.
We create space for your voice to be heard.

Research continues to show that continuous support during labor can improve birth experiences and increase satisfaction with the birth journey.

If your birth left emotional wounds, know that your experience matters. Your feelings are valid, and healing is possible.

During Birth Trauma Awareness Week, let’s continue to raise awareness, listen without judgment, and advocate for compassionate, respectful maternity care for every family.

Join us this October for Supporting Birth Through a Trauma-Informed Lens Training as we continue learning how to provide compassionate, person-centered care.
