Provisional URPD, restoring anterior teeth 7-11.

To get the most natural look for the set-up, I mixed teeth from three different Ivoclar anterior molds in BL3 which I them to match the patient's natural dentition and smile line. The C-clasps are our standard: hand shaped to the exact contours of the abutment teeth so that this broad contact gives the patient maximum retention, bracing, and stability. Brian@TDL

Gasket-style lower partial.

These can be a good restorative option for patients who want to preserve a few remaining healthy teeth. The gaskets are lined with a silicone-based permanent soft liner and contoured to grip the natural gum line and tooth gently. This places less stress, wear, and torque on the remaining teeth compared to the clasps of a traditional partial denture.

Repairing a broken tooth from an upper acrylic partial.

The model from the pickup impression showed that the tissue under tooth 11 had resorbed--and even a small gap between the partial denture and the tissue can put greater stress on the denture base resulting in fractures like this. We fixed that fit issue in conjunction with the repair. That also means there's now a little more heft to the narrow acrylic fl**ge supporting tooth #11, which will also add to its fracture resistance. Brian@TDL

Root retained complete upper overdenture, to restore function and esthetics after the removal of a failing anterior bridge.

The doctor and patient agreed on a conservative treatment plan after removing the anterior bridge that involved preserving the remaining natural dentition (prepared teeth). In consulting with the doctor, we recommended a root retained overdenture rather than a Cu-Sil or gasket partial denture given the anatomy and size of the remaining dentition. They agreed with that plan, and after a positive try-in appointment, we delivered them this new smile. Brian@TDL
