They taught you how to hit. How to pass. How to read the court.

What most coaches don't have time to tell you is why your body keeps breaking down and what actually prevents it.

Here's what every volleyball player deserves to know:

1️⃣ Your ankles and knees are taking a beating every single practice. Repetitive jumping without proper strength training is one of the fastest paths to injury. It's not bad luck. It's under-preparation.

2️⃣ Landing mechanics are a skill and most players have never been taught them. If your knees cave when you land, that's a ticking clock. Fix the pattern before it becomes a problem.

3️⃣ Shoulder health doesn't just happen. Overhead athletes need intentional rotator cuff and scapular work. Serving and hitting hundreds of balls a week without it is how careers get cut short.

4️⃣ Strength training in-season is not optional. It's what keeps you from breaking down in month three of a long season when everyone else is getting hurt and you're not.

5️⃣ If you're always sore, always tired, or always nursing something, that's not "part of the sport." That's a program failing you.

You deserve more than just being coached for performance. You deserve to be built to last.

Most athletes don’t realize their injury risk starts BEFORE practice even begins.

A smart warm-up prepares your muscles, joints, nervous system, and movement patterns for the demands of your sport.

The goal isn’t to “break a sweat.” The goal is to prepare your body to perform.

A lot of athletes lift hard in the off-season and then drop everything once the season starts. The thinking is that games and practices are enough. That adding strength work on top of a full schedule is too much.

But here is what actually happens when you stop lifting mid-season. The strength you spent months building starts to fade. Your joints lose the support they need. Your body becomes less resilient to the physical demands of competing week after week. And by the end of the season you are running on empty, moving worse than you were in August, and one bad landing away from an injury.

In-season lifting does not have to be heavy. It does not have to be long. But it has to happen.

Two sessions a week. Focused, intentional, structured for where you are in your season. That is what keeps you strong, healthy, and performing at your best when the stakes are highest.

🎙️ Meet The Founder: Episode 7

What is the number one piece of advice you would tell your high school self?

1. Be a better teammate
2. Be more coachable

High school sports are full of tough practices, hard off seasons, and moments where you do not always feel motivated. Showing up with effort and supporting your teammates, even on those days, makes a bigger impact than you realize.

Growth happens faster when you are willing to listen, learn, and apply what is being taught. Effort and coachability can take you further than talent alone.

Move with strength in every plane. 🔥

Side lunges are a game-changer for building lateral power, improving hip mobility, and developing the stability athletes need for quick cuts, explosive movement, and injury prevention.

Training side-to-side isn’t optional — it’s essential for real-world performance.

💪 Stay strong, mobile, and ready for every direction the game takes you.

The highlight reel is easy to want. The work behind it is a different story.

Pro athletes are not just gifted. The ones who last are obsessive about the details nobody sees. The sleep. The nutrition. The strength work in the off-season when nobody is watching. The mobility sessions that feel pointless until they are the reason you stay healthy through a grueling season.

They treat preparation like it is part of the game. Because it is.

You do not have to be a pro to prepare like one. You just have to decide that your body and your performance are worth the investment.

The results will follow.

Somewhere along the way the sports world convinced athletes that chronic soreness means you are working hard enough. That if you are not wrecked after every session you must not be doing enough.

That is not toughness. That is a sign your body is not recovering from what you are putting it through.

Constantly sore means your training load is outpacing your ability to adapt. It means your recovery is not keeping up. It means you are accumulating fatigue faster than you are building fitness and that is a setup for a breakdown, not a breakthrough.

You should feel challenged. You should feel pushed. But you should also feel like your body is responding and getting stronger, not just surviving session to session.

Soreness is occasional. Feeling strong is the goal.
